you'd have to be really anal to call someone out about raising the flop there. i have like a dozen examples of 2+2 regulars making more suspect raises.


what you're saying implies that he/she should be raising the flop only with QJ+ (if not, less). and for a range of hands QJ+ (given the flop) that cold cap preflop, what kind of shape are YOU in even after filling up?

when PM raised the flop, i hated my hand, but i hit the turn, so c/r/call down and pray.

the flop raise might be only a little worse than my flop bet, but, i hated my hand on the flop, so i just bet.

at least i won that one

You pick on players for the all these silly little mistakes that are not that bad at all. I could pick 5 random hands played in AP's 5/T and it's a near lock that someone made a much worse decision than raising this flop. Do you seriously think it's a major leak for PM to lose an extra half bet or bet when his overpair is no good in a huge pot? Or are you just upset that someone underestimated the strength of your flop donking range? The flop raise wasn't even the worst decision he made on that hand.

I'm not saying that raising there is good. It's just that I played 400 hands there today and I could list dozens of worse plays than this, several of which were made by me.

thehip, here's an example of a retarded play that's not quite retarded enough to be worth mentioning, but whatever. The thing I like most about this is it doesn't matter what the SB had, he played it terribly. And he had been playing against me like a maniac and making the best hand every time so that made this favorite hand of the week.

*Important note: sb begins the hand with 5BB*

preflop: fish limps utg, couple folds, i raise the button with 2 cards, sb 3-bets, bb folds, fish calls, i cap, both call

flop (Ax5s6s) 3 players 13bb: check, check, i bet, sb raises, fish calls, i 3-bet, sb caps, both call

turn (Ad5s6s5h) 3 players 12.5BB: check, check, i bet, sb folds...

ya but its different when it's a regular playing bad. like today a dude c/c flop, donked turn with A-hi vs me on 524x. when i raised his bet on the 3 river, he 3-bet. when you're chopping at best you shouldn't 3-bet.

or when the board is showing a straight and you get donkbet on the river when villain could easily have the card higher than the board, you should probably just call hoping to chop, since who is gonna fold playing the board? especially when you would likely check behind with the card that actually makes the higher straight......?
