It's ridiculous...the ap regs thread was the best, longest running thread (that I've seen) on this site...it's the only reason I even visit this forum. No one ever had a problem with the NC/LC thing until just a couple days ago...why the fuss all of a sudden?

I guess we better be careful though, so far only 1 post in this thread pertains to poker....

I played cards today on absolute poker.

I took some bad beats and I gave some bad beats. I played well and won money.

Is there a date yet for this? when they rolled it out i thought they said some time in AUG.

See the paragraph in my OP that begins "Please refrain ..."? I'll bet you think the no-no list looks like boilerplate that I got out of the T&C? Sadly that is not the case.

Literally everything on that list was happening on a semiregular basis. The post notifications and PMs were pouring in asking us to delete offensive posts and/or play referee.

Palomino, LC/NC is not the issue here. The problem is mean and offensive posts. If you guys play nice and keep it PG-13 no one is going to be looking over your shoulder for NC posts.

True, there was quite a bit of drama...and hatred...and graphic debauchery. But damn, it was fun!

I'd love to know who "ratted us out" on a regular basis. I'm guessin' it was someone who was the brunt of the drama. It's so typical that folks can dish it out and not take it. But then again, Derrick is actually a decent player.

Please refrain from abusing this thread. Personal attacks, abusive language, flaming, invasion of privacy, explicit sexual discussions, racism, sexism, and similar unwelcome posts have no place in this thread or anywhere in SSSH.

I think an exception should be made for this thread.

Also, we're not children. Why should we have to keep the conversation PG 13 if we all can legally get into R rated movies?

Very rarely did the conversation get out of hand and when it did, warnings to the offending parties would be a much better solution than locking one of the best threads on 2p2.

Between this and the converter fiasco, I'm almost ready to say goodbye to 2p2.

I'm pretty sure we got shorted for the same reason. I called and bitched. They said oops, our bad, we'll investigate. Then they said I was shorted b/c I was only elite for a few days so I'd only get a few days worth of interest. I'm gonna call and bitch some more. Wish me luck.

So the natural response would be to warn or temp-ban the people who were inappropriately mean or offensive.

I think there was probably one particular mod who had a problem with what was being discussed for personal reasons and took it on himself to shut it down.


There's no more 'abuse' in that thread than there is in 90% of all nvg/bbv threads, so I have a hard time believieng it's that.

I understand what you are saying about dealing with individuals instead of the whole community and I don't necessarily disagree with you.

But you need to appreciate that warning people has not been working. Several regular posters have been warned so many times that they are out of warnings. Warnings for things that they should know are totally unacceptable without being told. Dealing with individuals as you suggest would have meant permanently banning some regular contributors.

We really don't want it to come to that and we chose to try something different instead. I realize that some innocent people were upset and inconvenienced. I'm truly sorry for that.

I can promise you that we have no intentions of doing anything like this again. If there are more problems with individuals we will do the necessary. It is just important to know that we tried another way before we resorted to that.

Keeping the thread locked doesnt solve any new problems though.

The people who you think are posting inappropriate content will be no more or less inclined to post it in the new AP/UB reg thread than the old one.



All it does is ensure that 2 years worth of content fades into obscurity.

There is a link to the old thread in the OP for precisely that reason. It is very easy for any of you to visit whenever you like. Newcomers will find out about your legacy when they read the thread header.

LC/NC and special subject threads aren't meant to last forever. It is normal for gigantic old threads to be locked and replaced now and then.

The upcoming merger with UltimateBet would have forced us to do something in the near future. Might as well take care of it now.

Your held to a higher standard in strat forums because they are places of learning as opposed to places to goof around.
