Ya, I only play NBA. I figured 1 sport was easier to pick up than 2, as I do not know who anyone from the last 5-6 years is. Also, I hated seasonal fantasy footballs and loved fantasy NBA in the past.

It was the best game ever, 5 70 VPIPS and me. I made 15k in 2 hours and then my computer crashed and smoke started pouring out of my monitors and it burned my apartment building down. So even though I made 15k, I had to grind at my parents' house for a couple days. But then this homeless girl I always gave a dollar to at the intersection by my house won the lottery and is letting me stay with her, so now I live in a penthouse highrise instead of my crappy apartment.

Elo, totally standard stuff working delivery jobs. Welcome to the endless hamster wheel of life. Unfortunately, things are about to get infinitely worse for you. You think you have hit rock bottom, but you have not even begun your descent into the abyss. A week from now, you are going to lose both of your legs as you walk across the street to one of your deliveries. The driver is going to be Chipotle girl. Your boss will fire you while you are in the ER bleeding to death. You will miraculously survive, but only after the infection spreads to your dick and you have to be castrated. You will also suffer severe brain damage from being resuscitated repeatedly and have to wear a helmet because you constantly crash your scooter in your group home, which btw reeks of urine and feces (mostly yours). Additionally, you will continue to be a hopeless degenerate gambler and will lose your weekly supply of cigarettes repeatedly to the slightly less ******ed residents of your community. Chipotle girl will feel terrible about running you over and wheel you around the neighborhood once per week. But then, one day, she decides to give you a pity hand job and has a nervous breakdown when she finds nothing which triggers her underlying schizophrenia and forces her to live in a mental hospital for the remainder of her life. So please make the most of the next week of your life, as your suffering has only just begun.

It's always fun when UG goes manic. I figure by now it's just kinda sad when I do.

They turned my heat back on last night, using mostly my own money (!), so I can't be at rock bottom quite yet.

Looking at those hands made me itchy. Seriously, I had a physical reaction. Don't even care that they're colluding. Somebody stake me and I will be your poker slave.

Also, I'd bravely suffer through all that if I can get a handy from that Chipotle girl. That sexy minx. I don't know what it is about the girls that make me burritos.
12-09-2014 , 09:59 AM
This reminds me of that Hispanic girl at Commerce who work(ed) that food stand near the lower limit games. I wanted her to know I was a baller, so I surreptitiously flashed a bunch of WHITE CHIPS while she was making my food. I should have doubled down and just directly told her that I just came from the 100/200 and 200/400 game (while not bringing up that I just lost 22k in it the day before).

Obviously, she never noticed any of this. I suck at Demonstrating Value.

Of course, white chips are 1$ in like every other casino.

I shoulda ordered burritos on the house (or maybe, "for every staff employee") that one night I hit a ******ed heater and made a 65k stack at the 2/4.

OH BY THE WAY IM GONNA FERRY DRINKS AND SUBS THIS AFTERNOON FOR 12 DOLLARS AN HOUR JFHWIFHDJFNFH

ok, now I'm getting manic too, later

Yeah I'm sure that was me. I play a lot on DK. I think I'm actually pretty good at NBA and MLB, but I also believe that my approach to DFS (No math or models or spreadsheets) will ultimately be unsuccessful.

On a separate topic, I recently moved to NJ and am giving their version of legal online poker a shot. There aren't really any limit games, so I am delving headfirst into NLHE. It's really, really easy. I remember how paranoid I used to be about changing games, feeling like the learning curve for NLHE would be too steep for me to have any success. Those concerns were wrong. I'm still only playing 50NL and getting ready to move up to 100, but even at these baby stakes I feel like $30+ an hour is attainable.

Of course, 3 weeks after I start doing this, now I have to fade Sheldon Adelson's bid to get an online gambling ban attached to a must-pass spending bill. Feels just like old times.

In other news, I decided to have Jimmy John's for dinner after all this Jimmy John's talk. I got the bootlegger club, which is half roast beef and half turkey. The amazing thing about Jimmy John's is that the first several bites taste delicious. And somehow, by the end, I am choking it down. Not because I am full. But because it just doesn't taste good anymore. This does not happen with any other sandwich I have ever eaten.

Elo, 12/hour after tips/mileage? You gotta get into pizza, yo! Easily $15+, and this is 2005-2008 with $5.15 minimum wage. Pizza Hut sucks, but Domino's, Papa John's, and popular indy pizza places that are well located = big money.

As a gambler, you would also enjoy the variance. Some days you get lucky and deliver 40 pizzas to some lolchurch and they tip you $50.
12-10-2014 , 10:08 AM
Wouldn't that lower his tip/pizza rate?
12-11-2014 , 11:02 AM
After thinking about it more, it probably is closer to 15/hr.

It will still take a while to get cable/Internet back, but when I do, I'm gonna grind those Bovada fpps until my fingers fall off. I mean, I'll have 20 hour sessions doing nothing but 3$ SnGs. God I can't wait. Online poker is the best thing I've ever experienced, never quit.

Ten years alone did dramatically reduce my already poor ability to hold conversations in real-time. I end up either spewing a bunch of non-sequiturs or mumbling incoherently while looking for an escape. However, that is "good for me", for some reason I've forgotten, so I press on.

There is variance, (in the same way UG described), and there are angleshooters. I get angleshot on the reg at work, although the worst offender also helps me out for no discernable gain at other times.

I never complain about it, mainly because I don't have a chatbox.

Here is your chat box, complain away.

Is it only a matter of time, or what?

As soon as Sheldon Adelson dies we'll be safe.
12-12-2014 , 03:44 AM
Apparently he and Harry Reid are buddies. Reid is actually for a gambling ban if poker is exempt. Would a poker exempt gambling ban be good for us? Maybe if that happens it could actually pave the way for mass regulation faster.

I think a gambling ban with a poker exemption would be just about the best thing ever. But I wouldn't expect Adelson to agree to that.

I also think that federal regulation is a longshot to occur anytime soon. The state-by-state model is better anyway, if you ask me. The only downside being that rolling out state-by-state is going to take longer for most people.

Playing on legal and regulated sites is such a refreshing feeling. If a couple more states can really get this ball rolling, online poker will be in a great place in a short period of time.
12-12-2014 , 04:32 PM
RAWA most definitely does not have a poker carveout. Adelson seems to be more against online poker than any other game. And Reid has to be one of the all-time biggest scumbags in U.S. politics. I mean dude was taking money every year to get a poker bill out. Of course it never happened and was never even close to happening, and now lolol he's flipped and taking bribes to slip in a ban. It's awesome that he's such a total piece of **** that he's willing to take money from one side for years, then throw his entire state under the bus for money from some other total piece of ****. Like if you made a documentary about it, people would just assume it's another John Grisham adaptation but with a less believable plot than Runaway Jury.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The state-by-state model seems like total AIDS to me. What other states are even on the radar for passing something? California seems like the only one, and the most recent bill text they released is massive fail. Requiring people to deposit at a casino cage for online poker has to be one of the dumbest ideas I've ever read. And I think the insider opinion (Gambling Compliance?) might be that 2015 will be yet another balk--just like every other year--and that 2016 would be the earliest something might happen.

What's Adelson got against poker?

It's easier to protect your empire by buying people off than offering competitive products and services in an emergent market.

Do you think that state-by-state legalization of marijuana is AIDS? Why should the federal government be involved in online poker? I'd like a legal regulated national player pool as much as anyone, but tbh, I'm not sure that actually aligns with my political views.
12-13-2014 , 11:58 AM
I'm no lawyer, by why is state ring fencing of players not an unconstitutional restriction of interstate commerce? That is, if you allow in state companies to provide internet poker, you should also have to allow out of state companies to do so. Then companies can get licenses in multiple states, and combine the player pools. Each state can have a different skin on the network, and tax the revenue of only that skin.

I don't know, but states didn't change the federal law. It's still on Schedule I according to the DEA.

The analog to online poker is that interstate compacts may not be legal under federal law. That's where the analogy ends though because online poker is fundamentally different due to its dependence on player liquidity.

I don't think that they should. But then why should the states be involved? If you wanna go limited government, why not go all the way and tell all government to gtfo? I don't want anyone telling me which games I can play on my computer with my money. That isn't reality though, and regulating something on a state-by-state basis when it is dependent on interstate pooling seems incredibly inefficient to me.

State by state seems to be the way to go. At least for Fantasy Sports, which only has 5 states you cannot play in I think? Who wants to live in Arizona, Montana, Louisiana, Iowa and Washington anyway.
