Is there still good money to be made with such small edges ?
Or are you better off putting your time and effort into NL ?

pretty sure its unbeatable not counting rakeback

Yeah i think you're right... I gave up trying to beat that game. It's a brutal fight just to break even. It's not even funny how the rake just totally rape you. To beat it you'd have to be one of the best and play PERFECTLY ALL THE TIME, which i can't, cause i think i'm still human.

So Victor, what games of you play these days?

Probably better off learning NL. But that doesn't mean you'll make money either. I think money shouldn't be your goal. Play for fun and try to at least break even after 10k + hands, and then take it from there.

So is 1/2 on stars a raketrap after all?
I have a healthy winrate for significant samples at .25/1 to 2/4 with 1/2 being the only exception.
I had figured that after the last rake changes by Stars the situation had gotten a little bit better?!

I have been playing a lot recently (going for 2x supernova this year) and am actually about to move up to 1/2 for good but now I am not so sure. I had previously figured that based on my past experiences, I might skip 1/2 altogether and wait a littler longer until I am rolled for 2/4, what would you advice?

I'm not one of the best players here, so advice from a pro would be appreciated. I am myself not wanting to play at 1\2 $ and going to jump to 2\4$ and up.

1/2 I cannot imagine you could beat the rake and be a solid winning player, theres just no way.... I use to grind Paradise till i moved to live limit, 30/60 which is doable.
I would grind what your winning at, keep track of your win rate, totals, then bump past when BR allows it!

At stars it is definately possible to beat 1/2.

Pretty sick you are going for 2x supernova playing .25/.50. Thats a lot of hands

Last round of changes was in 2013 I believe, I remember changes to 1/2 and other limits

yeah, mostly 6 max, atm at .50/1 and starting to mix in 1/2, Ill move up to 2/4 by summer. Gl at 2/4!

More input would indeed be appreciated, most of my play at 1/2 was before 2013 and fullring in any case

The 2nd time around its worth $1400 more in stellar rewards than the first time.
I recently transitioned to 6max and I am playing .50/1 and 1/2 right now, looking to move up to 2/4 in in 4-8 weeks. Normally I play between 6 and 12 tables.

Gladiator, Victor and co: 1/2 is extremely beatable.

3/6 and 5/T especially are the death stakes. The rake is barely lower than at 2/4 but all the sne's play there. Most of them have negative WR's--some very negative--but they make it back with sne.

Totally depends on where you play.
3-4 BB/100 is probably sustainable on some networks.
Rake isn't the biggest threat to your winrate. Poor table and site selection is.

Would you include Stars with the sites that that is true for?

I don't play 1/2 unless I adjust my HUD but 2/4 to 10/20 is significantly harder to beat at Stars compared to all other networks I play at.

I reckon a reasonable player can beat Stars 2/4 for 1 BB/100 and an expert player for +2 BB/100. But I do not dare to guess what a good winrate at 1/2 is.

Those winrates are way, way way too high. I don't think there's many players making 1BB/100 at 2/4. They play 6 tables+ but still....

i am going by the stats of players that gladiator posts. those tables look very tough esp considering the rake.

Still 100% beatable. I only play a little 1/2 but I think I could get close to
1BB/100 playing 6 tables. Edit, possibly more

You're talking about Pokerstars right? Has it changed that much the last year?

Imo It would be odd if you couldn't play 2-3 tables with good table and seat selection and be between a 1-2 BB/100 winner at 2/4. You probably can't make Supernova with that strategy but very few players aim that high if they play 1/2 or 2/4

I haven't played less than 6 tables for a long time, but 1BB/100, with 2-3 tables, for a very good player...yes for sure. but a WR approaching 2 is a fairy tale imo

What about you try it out? Play 10K hands and let us know how you're doing on PS.

"Stake","Game","Won","My C Won","Hands","Hands Won","Sessions","Sessions Won","BB/100","My C / 100","Hours","Rake Attrib"

"$1/$2 (6 max)","Holdem","$416.79","$416.79","14,563","2,819 (19.36%)","307","156 (50.81%)","1.43","$2.86","73.72","$922.36"

Apparently I can't figure out how to take a screen shot on windows, or how to copy/paste from PT4....but there are all the 1/2 hands I have on this comp. All on Stars. I play 6-9 tables
