Flop Spot 3-w

SB is the mark at the table. He's running at 80/50 over 50 or so hands. Generally, just playing pretty maniacal preflop. I expect him to C/R any TP and most second pairs on this flop and peel with the rest of his range, never folding to the initial c-bet. I'm not sure if he'll slowplay a hand like 2 pair. HJ is a TAG style regular, I assume he's aware of how SB has been playing and should view me as competent.

I think all my options on this flop are relatively close, not sure which I like the best.

1 fold, MP raises, 2 folds, SB calls, Hero calls

If he's that bad then probably call > raise >>>>>>>>>>>> fold, depends on MP if its a raise.

Re: Flop Spot 3-w

i think they mixing up HU table situation with 6 max situation where the range are totally different wich make BB play different as well.

here its easy fold, maybe it would of been a call if SB fold vs a passif player where u would get a free card on turn but even so, having free card on turn u still improve not often enough to hit on river.
- even if u hit and bet u might not even get paid to justfiy a call on flop.

unless the villaing would be very tight and passif on turn and river( cause if he check turn HU u can almost always win with any 2 card while bluffing), its a clear fold in any situation here imo

i can only see a call here if SB was open raising and pot was HU.

Fold. If the K wasn't there you may have a peel. But it is so you're way behind.

I disagree that its an easy fold (it still may be a fold, but I don't think its that obvious.)

The pot is reasonably big at this point for the price I'm getting, SB likely doesn't even have a pair, and there are a lot of turn cards I can see a river with, mainly any 3, 5, 7, J or diamond.

It is a pretty decent spot to checkraise as a bluff given our read that SB the vast majority of time doesn't have a hand when he just calls.

If I'm MP 20% of my range is Qhigh and lower. It is hard to continue with those.Furthermore another 30% of my range is Ace high which also puts me in a difficult spot because BB has to be pure bluffing in order for me to take most of my Ahighs to showdown, especially when I don't close the action.

BB also has some equity with two good backdoor draws and the J being good
a decent amount of the time.

So I like a CR from BB in this spot now and then. But for me it is either a raise or a fold.I don't like a call.

I would like a call so much more if the maniac was in CO or BTN, cause then u could call with the intention of going for a turn c/r those times the TAG checks turn and the maniac then bets (which is likely to happen a fair bit i would guess).
As it is now I would only call if i had a plan to make some creative profitable play (aka bluff with this hand) on some turn/rivers.

The two backdoors and the jack is not the reason for a checkraise. The reason is that our read says that the bad player doesn't have a hand and that the good player is put in a difficult spot with at least 40-45% of his range.
We are banking on two folds before the end of the turn which I guess we have to succeed with around 30 % of the times without considering our equity.
But the equity of the backdoors and the possible pair outs makes our hand a
little more than a pure bluff.

I probably fold this hand 4 out of 5 times but I don't think it is horrible to checkraise so I just didn't share your opinion that it always is a fold.
I consider myself to be a TAG playing 30/20 5 and 6 handed and I would really hate to be checkraised here with my 23% HJ range if I was in MP:s shoes.

Re: Flop Spot 3-w

Its an interesting discussion, but there are better spots than this to get fancy. Fold and move on to the next hand.
