You have to consider how much of a calling station they are. Are they going to come along for the ride when you flop a flush, a strait, or full? If yes, then you can make the case that's it's profitable, but variance will be high.

If no, then it's not profitable to limp and play fit or fold. There is a different strategy to play against birds (that's my term for players that run away from a pot as soon as you make a move) just bluff more!

Nah I phrased the question poorly and it doesn't make much sense in retrospect because the # of players in the hand is different.
