Lots of interesting characters, insane plot twists, awesome New York City scenery, hot female actresses imo, thought provoking, etc. Lots of tributes to badass movies of the late 90s aka ripoffs, but it works.
It was pretty good but
Spoiler:

around 1/3rd of the season I was thinking "damn this better not be a total Fight Club ripoff with the schizo guy destroying all financial data with his other self leading the gang" so when this did happen I was super disappointed

I loved it, and the sickest part was that whenever an episode ended, I was like "there's no ****ing way it really went down like this" so I looked up some of the facts after almost every episode and 98% of the time they were real.

Also, Fargo season 2 has just started, season 1 was awesome imo.

The Fargos are starting to all look like the same story with just slightly different characters and different actors. I hope the later episodes of this season change things up a bit.

Spoiler:

I'm not going to defend the fact that it's highly derivative, but to be fair, it wasn't really a ripoff but an homage. There were a ton of really heavy handed hints from the start and they even played "Where is my mind" during the reveal scene. Plus the fact that he's channeling his memories of his dad give it a fresh spin.

You can also criticize how derivative Tyrell's character is of American Psycho.

All in all I think its a strong show with great production values but it's extremely overhyped in OOTV. People declaring it top-5-alltime-tv already seems like jumping the gun a bit.

Spoiler:
The creator said they tired to make that as obvious as possible to the audience. I think everyone was thinking that might be where it was going, but as an upside the Darlene sister reveal was super stealthy, don't think anyone saw that coming. I have super high hopes for the series after s1 and reading an interview with the writer; this is the only thing he's done in TV and he has the whole story roughly planned already, so it will definitely end after 4-5 seasons without wasted problems of the week or villains of the season.

Think it is too soon to judge it after 1 ep, but have high hopes from early reviews.

I am working on season 1 of Fargo and am very impressed so far. Hours of Billy Bob Thornton being a scumbag... what's not to love?

I will have to add Narcos to my list... looks awesome!

Little late on this one, but I thought season 2 of True Detective was average-slightly above average at best. It was frustrating because it kept seeming like it might take off and become amazing, but then it would fade yet again. I was most worried that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn would suck... turns out they did well, but just didn't have enough to work with.

Really looking forward to the Sherlock Christmas special.

I think Mr. Robot is awesome, but def not a GOAT candidate. My favorite episode...

Spoiler:
I absolutely loved the episode where Elliot ****s up and gets Shayla murdered. It did a great job of showing what a living hell it can be to have to deal with a highly intelligent sociopath... just a web of unsolvable lose-lose scenarios.

S2 TD was real weak imo. Thought everyone acted well but the writing was a horror show. That guy needs a team of writers, I hope HBO doesn't let him write it all by himself for s3.

Have you guys heard of this show called The Wire? I'm about halfway through season 3 and it's pretty decent

@CNBCnow
JUST IN: NV Gaming Control Board orders daily fantasy sports sites to cease operations in state, asks NV AG to look into sites.

Ray Donovan definitely in my top 5 series.

Heard abou the DFS being shut down here at about 3 this afternoon and I'm shocked there isnt more about here yet

Could be that the Daily Fantasy of most people here doesn't often involve sports.
10-16-2015 , 06:06 AM
Mine involves Kiera Knightly, a blow up swim pool, and four sticks of butter

I'm sure there's not much sympathy from poker players, understandably, maybe empathy though.

Sounds like CO, FL, IL, MI and PA could be next states to go or at a minimum looking into the legality of daily fantasy sports.

Just wow at the 2016 Pokerstars VIP changes...

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/28...-club-1568814/

The most astounding change is removing rakeback entirely from high stakes games. For limit, this will mean no rakeback at 15/30+.

They are also totally shafting 2015 SNEs by taking away a huge chunk of the rakeback they were promised for 2016.

I haven't seen the specifics, but it looks like seat scripting is being banned. As far as HUDs, I cannot tell if they are banning them or simply altering the rules.

Just a couple weeks ago, people were excited about Stars moving into New Jersey... oops!

What's really surprising is that Stars recently backed down when players protested the increases in rake. Now they turn around and make things much worse.

Big surprise. A company paid a lot of money to acquire an asset, and is now making changes in attempt to make that asset give them the return they need to justify it.
11-02-2015 , 11:15 PM
also FPPs taking a 25% hit in value. Time to stop hoarding I guess.

Stars FL community has cried apocalypse many times, but I think this is actually it

Good game to everyone I played against over the years, and GL with whatever comes next

As much as I was an immature asshat over the years, I have a lot of fond memories of playing small stakes limit. Was a fun ride while it lasted.

I haven't posted much since WSOP, but if anyone cares, my wife, my dog, and I are driving across the country, from California to Connecticut. I am currently at Bay 101 in San Jose, where I will be playing for a few days before heading down to LA. Another few days there, mostly at Commerce, but I'd like to check out Hustler and The Bike for ****s and giggles. It'll be my first time playing poker in LA. From there we are headed to Vegas (hopefully fear and loathing style), then down to Scottsdale, AZ where I am hoping for a That_Pope sighting. Then, a long drive to Austin, TX to visit some friends, followed by New Orleans where I will likely be forced to play NL. Hopefully the party scene will compensate for the torture of playing big bet pokerz We'll see where we end up from there. I know we'll be hitting Nashville eventually, but I'll have to find some card rooms down south to check out.

If anyone has any suggestions, or wants to meet up along the way post itt or pm me. I'll update with trip reports as much as I can. So, far we have driven about 180 miles from where we lived near Chico to San Jose, but I have been doing this drive once a week for the last 11 months so idk if it counts. Lost $3k in 15 minutes in 40/80 upon arrival. Poor start, but now quitting up $600
