Agree, I'm really enjoying the WWI series. Just wish he would come out with a new episode more than once every three months.

it's not easy when you put as much time and effort into things.

yeah, calling his latest work "podcasts" does it disservice. It's more like mini-novels, often around 3-4 hours in length. And its all scripted and read by one guy, not a back and forth chit chat like most podcasts are.

If you're hankering for more I also like his political stuff, but that might be a bit "off the reservation" for you US types, since he goes quite against the grain.

Now you're saying that mixed games specialists have feelings? Ban elgrindo!

Can you guys hook me up with some mixed game specialist stereotypes? How do I hurt their feelings?

I feel kind of left out. I feel like I am supposed to hate on mixed game specialists, but I am not sure why a of right now.

Two major types. NLHE players. They are always on tilt and at least once an orbit say "you can't protect your hand in this stupid game." Best not to insult. Fun to have in the game and you can hear lots of stories of the old days. But every time you rake in a pot say "good call, I could have been bluffing there."
The other type is the LHE players. They know they are the best player at the table in every game. But they are so used to downswings that their six month losing street is just variance and the inability to play a decent sample size live. Always compare them to some old timer..."You remind me of a young Doyle." Or better yet "you remind me of a young Amarillo Slim."

Hope that helps

Start by taking the controversial viewpoint that Jen Harman isn't the best LHE player in the world, even though she wrote the LHE section in SS. That will get you called 22 year old basement dwelling internet punk, off the bat. Oddly, calling Negreanu bad at LHE will get you no street cred. You can work your way out to calling any old school Bobby's room regular bad at LHE, and see if that gets NVG frothing. Next up, pick 100bb HUNL geniuses out. No idea why they'd be good at LHE, but all fanboys will rush to defense. Two of you can point out that "Player X sat at my table the year I won my WSOP bracelet, and he/she was the single worst player at the table." That should get NVG atwitter.

I'm just jealous they adapted and are crushing.

Anyway, out of their 8 games or so, find their weakest game and verbally abuse them on it...and then wait for a pm about your mom.

I am friends with him now on skype though, so all is forgiven.

You could try calling them a loudmouth troll that can't play a lick of NL.
01-29-2015 , 03:10 AM
Wow, nice feedback so far. Now I know how to troll them and get under their skin.

So basically, I should dislike them because they are arrogant know-it-alls who think they can crush all 8 games they play when they are really only barely competent outside of their old specialty game?

That is actually pretty annoying. I was unaware that they really believe this.

How good at LHE is Jennifer Harmon by today's standards?

does she play at a all?

If she has continued playing I doubt she's that bad since she seems like a smart person and can pick up on whats happening in the games.

If she hasn't and still plays like she did in 2004 or whenever she became famous then god have mercy on her chips.

this seems like the most likely scenario.

Do you really play poker?

I don't read NVG and don't play live, so I really had no clue what mixed game specialists are like.

On Jen Harmon, my opinion shared ITT from 2013 which still stands today:

"Jennifer Harmon owns everyone ITT except for me and pope. The pecking order in LHE is 1. Me 2. that_pope 3. Jennifer Harmon. The rest aren't even worth talking about. Until pope and me collaborate on an LHE book ($1500/copy minimum, only 43 autographed copies will be printed), SSII is your ****ing bible. Get used to it. You are all missing the point with your MOP, GTO, exploit this or that nonsense. Phil Ivey is a luckbox and only wins because he is a black man living in a politically correct society."

Do they still run a "big game" at the Bellagio/Aria? She supposedly used to beat that game when they played a lot of LHE. I've heard of big games running in the Aria high limit room, but no idea what they play there these days.
01-30-2015 , 12:15 PM
There is no big LHE game. She is a mix player which obv means she is bad at all games right unguarded? She would probably have preflop stats of like 25/12 from the little I've played with her (one LHE tourney and mix games on full tilt).

Re: mix players. I don't really care who is good or bad, I suck at many games I play and win in regularly. But I do like mix players for one thing, if you tell them hey let's play this poker game we just invented for our regular stakes they will say "cool lets try it". If you try telling a LHE pro or any specialist something like that they will look at you like you are a silly space alien and say "why would I do that I don't know how to play"

Quick etiquette question:
Playing at a certain anonymous site, 2 players playing, 3rd sits in, both players insta sit out and ask for HU. Does this still warrant a polite way to ask for HU? 3rd player just laughed at us like "are you kidding me?" style and would not leave.
01-30-2015 , 03:16 PM
How would it be remotely possible to not get abused there? It seems like your only option would be to sit and play with whoever would play you, up to the table maximum. If you start honoring other people's HU requests and others won't honor yours, it seems like you're getting massively free-rolled.
01-30-2015 , 04:04 PM
i wont be honoring any of that hu request bs fwiw

Whoa... if you read these posts, you will clearly see that I am brand new to hating on mixed game specialists. A few days ago, I thought they were 100% cool. So you're calling out the wrong person. Hate the teachers, not the student!

Also, I think I am pretty much disproving your second point. ITT, I saw a new game I did not know how to play... hating on and trolling mixed game specialists. Since I am an LHE specialist, you seem to be arguing that I would choose to avoid this new game since I do not know how to play. But instead, I asked for a few simple guidelines and just jumped right in.

Additionally, I seem to already be pretty decent at this new game even though I just started playing a couple days ago. I have already offended both you and SonicJaxx!

We have had zero of this "hu plz" bs on Bovada and do not want it. Expect us to ignore your request and harass you until you stop. And **** you for trying to bring "hu plz" to an unpolluted site.

That just means you're a mixed game player and didn't know it.
