Would Politics Unchained be better, or worse, if more posters knew of its existence? Would Politics Unchained be better, or worse, if more posters knew of its existence?

I've been trolling pretty heavily the past couple days. Of were you saying that's Wookie's definition?

It may have been and may be again. As I said in my welcome post, if this forum becomes a place filled with hatred it will disappear.

I just think real discussion between opposing individuals is a healthy thing. Particularly for someone reading who might be confused about an issue. Neither participant needs to alter their stance in order to benefit an observer.

And I think that people might be labeled as bigots prematurely in the regular politics forum. Doesn't mean I'm right.

People being prematurely labeled bigots doesn't preclude them being exposed as bigots at a later time.

Forum works much better as place for politics posters and former politics posters to spew at eachother than it would if other posters who couldn't hack it in Chained started trying to talk about stuff that maters. The benefit is keeping the fighting out of the main forum for those people who don't like it. An actual unmoderated politics forum would be both dick and nards.

Also, to echo what I said in another thread. It's really not hard to identify bigots. Bigotry is stupid, stupid people are not good at hiding their nature. It's bad to make assumptions about people based on what they are, but it's more than fair to do it based on what they do and say. I think it's important to not be welcoming and understanding to the point where you're waiting for absolute proof that somebody's on the wrong side of things.

It's also important to acknowledge that while some people may hold rather vile, racists beliefs, they may still have something to offer. It's the internet, and you can pick and choose what parts of people you listen to. Just for instance, dkgo is basically an admitted racist, but he's funny as **** and I can enjoy his posting. In part because he doesn't freak out when people call him racist (and isn't trying to fool anybody about how he feels) and make every conversation in which he's involved a referendum on his views.

dkgo is a rare specimen. He's somebody who I genuinely believe is probably an awful person in all sorts of ways, yet still manages to be an entertaining poster sometimes.

Yeah all sorts of ****ed up and twisted, yet someone you think would be hilarious to hang out with, I'd make sure he didn't shank me though.
