this is such gold. the strict enforcers of Islam's righteousness, the Sultan of Brunei and his brother

When they partied, they indulged in just about everything forbidden in a Muslim country. Afforded four wives by Islamic law, they left their multiple spouses and scores of children in their palaces while they allegedly sent emissaries to comb the globe for the sexiest women they could find in order to create a harem the likes of which the world had never known.

a former Miss USA named Shannon Marketic sued Jefri and the sultan for $10 million, claiming that she and six other young women had been hired for $127,000 each to travel to Brunei for professional appearances, supposedly involving “intellectual conversations” with visiting dignitaries, but instead were forced to serve as “sex slaves.”

?

Bill Clinton had a mistress, JFK had many mistress's.

During the 90s, some women did bring fourth allegations against the Sultan, who cares? Humans are Humans.

Here in the USA, one can note strip clubs, male and female hookers who will get with anyone for the right price $$$.

Except Clinton and JFK never created any laws to stone adulterers. JFC thekid how dumb are you that you cannot see that there's a fundamental difference there?

I'm waiting for anyone to bring fouth a single case of someone being stoned in Brunei, meanwhile some innocent man is rotting in jail, right here in the USA. The problems of the USA, cant be compared to the challenges Brunei faces with its new law.

Even with the new Sharia law( which of course is not like the Sharia law of 1990s Afghanistan under the Taliban) Brunei is a nation of which its critiques don't really have any ground to stand on. I will await for a poster to prove that the disparity, struggle, crime, homelessness that we see in the USA is comparable to the successful nation of Brunei.

I'm almost certain that there has yet to be a case of someone being stoned in Brunei in the past 50 years.

Yes, we remember, your view is that we have to have a sacrificial person executed before we can get upset over the law. The next act in your performance art is you get upset that your viewpoint is accurately described.

What do you know, another instance of whataboutism. You're a broken record. You need help.

Can you explain how Sharia Law in Brunei is different from Sharia law in Afghanistan in the 90's?

What Sharian laws have changed in that time? Did somebody re-write the Sharia Law books? Have new professors of Sharia Law uncovered previously unused laws?
05-18-2014 , 08:52 AM
there's a bit of a difference between men with mistresses rising to positions of power on their merits in a democratic system and a King who is just given +$100B and says "yeah before we do economic development and stuff i want the greatest harem in the history of large groups of women who i keep around for no reason other than to have sex with."

i enjoyed thekid345 so much more when i thought he was serious.

LetsGambol you gonna tell me there's no SantaJesus now?!

The_kid also misses the point with his views of Brunei's laws advocating the death of homosexuals. Regardless of how they are implemented they will create a chilling effect with regards to discussing homosexuality, a complex and delicate issue that's only further complicated by draconian laws even if they are only on the books.

The laws also miseducate the people into believing that homosexuality could be worthy of death and could allow more prejudice by moving the needle in a prohibitive direction.

Experiencing the trolls is half the fun. Ignoring trolls is for noobs or is very advanced. Helping junior trolls earn their warts is not a job, it's a calling.

The Australian Football League (AFL) has called off a sponsorship deal between its affiliated league in Europe and Brunei's state airline.

In August, AFL Europe announced it had reached a deal with Royal Brunei Airlines to fly international players between Melbourne and London as part of a sponsorship arrangement.

AFL Europe receives financial support from the AFL and promotes the code in 22 European countries.

Last week, the ABC questioned the AFL about the sponsorship deal with Brunei's state airline.

The agreement came amidst a worldwide boycott campaign aimed at businesses owned by the Sultan of Brunei after he imposed harsh Sharia laws in his country.

When fully implemented in 2015, the laws will impose the death penalty by stoning for gay sex and adultery.

The AFL released a statement that said its European affiliate was unaware of Brunei's adoption of the laws.

"These laws are counter to everything the AFL stands for in regards to inclusion and diversity," the statement said.

I think the problem with the Anti Brunei protests in LA earlier this summer, as well as the above, is that these folks dont seem to look at what is actually going on in Brunei.

I imagine some folks, such as the Anti Brunei Protesters, as well as AFL europe, feel that these new Sharia laws are going to end up putting others through hell. But I feel that it is fair for these Anti Brunei folks to actually look into what citizens of Brunei have to say about what its like to live in Brunei,

I was delighted to find that they would feature a new exercise I had never tried before in the morning like Bokwa, Body Combat and so on before they did the crowd pleaser, Zumba, in the afternoon.

We really enjoyed it. The sessions were conducted or overseen by a local officer and his presence was reassuring.

The sessions (to me) comply with our basic Islamic virtues and are outgoing and fun.

Not only that, there is so much to learn about nutrition and how to make our homes and schools healthier in the expo, and there are a lot of private vendors pushing their healthy menus to us. My only complaint would be where it was held.

Let me just say this is nothing against the staff I interacted with everyday for the last two weeks.

I could see how dedicated they were, and many worked tirelessly everyday including weekends without break.

This was clear to us the general public because we saw their faces everyday when we came for the sessions. I would like to direct this complaint squarely at the top levels of the Ministry of Health and say that this expo should have been attached to a bigger event like Consumer Fair.

It is because people like me already want to be healthy.

But this is the magic of the ministry staff at the expo. I dragged people along with me who were not ready to lead more active lifestyles and the ministry instructor was so charismatic that he managed to sweep people along with him to exercise.

I have seen people in baju kurungs and work clothes just joining in. The people at the ministry are very talented and I have no doubt if they were part of an event like consumer fair, they would have pulled in tens of thousands of people easily. I hope the ministry realises just how lucky they are to have such dedicated people working for them, and I hope the top people will use them more effectively in bigger events instead of just how they did it here.

Yours Sincerely,
A Happy Mother

LIFELONG learning is encouraged by Islam particularly regarding expertise in various field and skills which is essential to developing a strong nation.

Imams delivering the sermon yesterday said Islam does not only encourage its followers to pursue and gain knowledge in religious fields such as Usuluddin and Syariah, but also other fields such as Science, Mathematics, Geography.

If you support Brunei you are an outright bigot, period.

I think plantation owners had positive things to say about the 1800s south.

So your upset about stonings in Brunei that might happen to folks for a crime that you dont think should be a crime. Please do better then that, we have a death penalty here in the USA that can effectively, kill innocent people.
