How in the world is this not a hate crime? He was targeted for being "special needs" even tho
He acknowledged that the suspects made "terrible racist statements" during the assault, but that investigators believe the victim was targeted because he has "special needs," not because of his race. But he said authorities are still looking at whether the attack falls under hate crimes statutes.
Seems clear as day to me. I mean if the roles were reversed, there would be not doubt about it. Love the hypocrisy these days...

Kidnapping, according to the state, is already a pretty hefty prison sentence.
01-05-2017 , 11:53 AM
Obviously, but that's not the point.
01-05-2017 , 11:53 AM
Sounds like a hate crime to me
01-05-2017 , 11:55 AM
Who is arguing it is not a hate crime?
01-05-2017 , 11:56 AM
This is what happens when the media and entertainment industry demonizes white people for over a year (e.g. MTV's "How White People Can Be Better in 2017" video, and the constant accusations of racism towards Trump supporters).

These people are being told that whites are bad, and they believe it. The end result? Violence.
01-05-2017 , 11:57 AM
No one's saying it isn't a hate crime afaict.
01-05-2017 , 12:01 PM
What does the DA say?
01-05-2017 , 12:01 PM
def a hate crime, bon voyage though.

Just leave a dead animal on a doorstep ffs. Clearly gang-related amateur hour.

The police are saying its not a hate crime at this time. They said he was targeted for being special needs, not for being white. Despite what the people were saying to him. They are currently looking into it to see if it falls under being a hate crime. Seems clear as black and white to me that it is (pun intended).

cite?

First line of Chicago Tribune story:

Quote:
Cicago police say they are considering hate crime charges against four people shown in a Facebook video attacking a mentally disabled man,

Exactly, considering. I'm at work, so I don't have access to alot of sites right now. Luckily they never blocked the forum part of 2+2, hahahaha! But could you imagine if 4 white people kidnapped a special needs black kid and tied him up calling him the N word and berating him for voting for Obama? No doubt that it would be labeled a hate crime immediately (as well it should for both sides) Reverend Al would be causing a ruckus and it may be safe to say the city of Chicago would be on fire from all the riots. The fact they have to "consider" if it is in hate crime status is ridiculous.

and you said the police are saying it is NOT a hate crime. If they are considering it they didn't say it is not a hate crime.

SuperUberBob?

Saying that they beat the kid based on that is stupid, meaning that people will definitely believe that.
With the assist from Noodle maybe agreeing with him but who knows, as he quoted the above and then went off on his own tangent, so unclear if he was implicitly agreeing with Bob as well.

Okay, now re-read every other part of those two posts, and then the word 'could' in the section you quoted.

Now here is a simple question, does SuperUberBob think this should be a hate crime, or not?
01-05-2017 , 12:47 PM
@prana, sorry for the wording. At this time they haven't stated if it is, or isn't a hate crime (which is crazy). They didn't say it was NOT a hate crime, rather that he was targeted for being special needs, not his race. Despite what was being said in the video.
01-05-2017 , 12:50 PM
So if they first picked on him because he was handicapped then that is true.

#teamwaitforfacts wants action! NOW!

Maybe OP just doesn't know what hate crime laws mean. You have to have evidence that someone TARGETED someone else because of their race (or gender, religion, etc.). Saying racist things does not necessarily prove this.
01-05-2017 , 12:56 PM
Now you don't make sense. So if 4 white kids kidnapped a special needs black kid and as you put it, was calling him a ****** first and making fun of him for that, then they shouldn't be held responsible for calling him the N word after he is tied up in their apartment?
01-05-2017 , 12:57 PM
Quote:
“Although they are adults, they’re 18. Kids make stupid decisions,” Police Commander Kevin Duffin said. “I shouldn’t call them kids. They’re legally adults, but they’re young adults and they make stupid decisions. That certainly will be part of whether or not we seek a hate crime [charge].”
Stupid decisions.

So calling blacks the N word isn't racist unless they were targeted before hand? Didn't know being a racist had to be premeditated, got it. SMH
