@shame... since i didn't want to quote the whole first post just to say "that's reasonable"... so... that's reasonable... 
and you have me thinking about my post... only thing i'd say is that while baseball is truly awash with cash and attendance is certainly good, it's driven by local interest now, vs. national interest... but that's a minor quibble...

there's not a strong enough collection of adverbs and adjectives in the english language to put in front of agree on the third...

yea... but... he IS a dick... **** i hate that guy... ate enough greenies to fuel a shock troop division... king of false hustle... ended a guy's career in a ****ing exhibition game... had to manage himself in order to hang on long enough to break a record (at least ty cobb isn't on the si list 
)... broke baseball's cardinal rule... lied lied lied about it, and laughed all the way to the bank, all while playing the "sympathetic character"...
the only thing he has going for him is that he isn't ****ing lance...
@shame... ok, i'm convinced. although i still think the roid thing was/remains a "big deal"... although in another 10 years, it's likely to become just a "was"... the damage to the record books is there, but as the older generation, ummm, moves on, the record books probably will become less relevant...

Sure, I'm willing to believe, regardless of how odious a human being Pete Rose happens to be, he never let his betting influence his play, or his managing. Some of the Black Sox, however, obviously did go in the tank. That series wasn't even a ball game, so to speak... ideal fairness isn't an issue at WWE. No amount of individual cheating on the juicing level, even as widespread and effectively condoned as it was, could turn things into a 1919.
