He/she is after a mod job.
05-28-2017 , 01:28 AM
What kind of job are you after?

If I did write well enough to know how to use apostrophes, then I could understand your jealousy of my writing abilities.

Mat, I do enjoy political discussions, and I do appreciate 2p2. There is nothing better, and won't be anything better for the forseeable future. Unlike for example, the USCF (United States Chess Federation), it is profitable. Are you sure that the politics forum is worthwhile from a business perspective? It creates all kinds of disputes which leave a bad taste in people's mouths. Politics itself is generally discussed but frowned upon in live games. But on the other hand, the people that want to discuss politics are energized about it. And, the internet is the place to talk about things that is somewhat unacceptable in "normal" life.

Basically you have huge post counts but 80% is unproductive.

Also, chez favours the soft tyranny of Nanny State. (What? We're all thinking it.)

The great thing about politics for an internet forum is there is always new stuff to talk about. The world's problems aren't going to end, so the supply of new topics aren't going to end either. I think politics is undoubtedly an asset for twoplustwo. Lots of long term regular users and lots of constant dicussion. This is good for advertisers which is in turn good for twoplustwo.

What would not be good for advertising and twoplustwo is openly allowing hate speech. There should be no place for that kind of garbage here.

There are negatives to consider. It's high maintenance. The discussions are not new as it's all the same regulars duking it out over the same topics. And, it creates a troll culture, which the other forums don't necessarily like.

I am a fan of 2p2 on the whole aside from the P/P7. I still like my name for this forum, "Politics Chained".

There would be less maintenance with better moderating. Chezlaw's modding is so terrible it creates an excessive amount of administrative issues that Mat and others in ATF constantly have to hear about.

Maybe same regs and some topics will be rehashed but there is always a constant influx of fresh news and events.

Not really. Im generally against the state interfering in what consenting adults do under informed consent.

Protecting people from others - absolutely but that's not really nanny state.

Didn't someone vandalize your dad's house with swastiskas recently?

Ultimately this forum will go away because of the whiney complainers who easily get their feelings hurt. If I was a MOD and you guys came to me with your nonsense I'd ban you to the P forum were you belong.

This is why you goofballs are made fun of in real life. It's probably why you act like this on the forums because you can't be the tough guy in real life.

If you don't like it here either keep your mouth shut or leave.

This is what I'm talking about.

NQ post is pretty dead on. How about stop being a wimpy nerd and go over there and respond to what he said.

it's not going to happen, but do you really believe that replacing the current moderators with yourself and anyone else you chose would be welcomed by the current crop of posters?

if not, do you believe that under your guidance this forum would somehow become as busy as the main politics forum?

love it or leave it? i feel that way sometimes in regard to this site, but not as a person living in this world. i often think people look for problems when they would be better off thinking about solutions to more obvious problems that haven't been solved yet, but given the opportunity i would try and refocus them, attempt to have them see my viewpoint, not just immediately kick them off the spaceship.

Here's a crazy thought. Why not have a conservative mod and a liberal mod for each forum, rather than the grossly biased farce we have know. Whoever thought having two mods with the same extremely partisan views running a politics forum such as P alpha would be a good idea must be nuts (no offence intended).
05-28-2017 , 03:50 PM
nominations?

and i want people like wookie. a respected poster who is all over this whole site talking about poker and beer and dancing and sports and movies, as well as politics.

tomdemaine's politics have changed over the years; he was (is?) a libertarian, and I think still was at the time he was modded. LOL at calling him "extremely partisan", he's way more reasonable and honest than you are.

Thanks Mat

There you go guys. Get your thinking caps on and get those nominations rolling in.
