There is consensus that one of the mods is absolutely terrible. Pretty much every regular poster in this forum has at one point stated that Chezlaw is an abysmal mod, and I know I've stated it myself as well.

When the entire forum is continuously complaining about a single person that is causing an excessive amount of problems, you should do something about it if that person is a mod imo.

This forum would be a lot better with better rules and better modding. I would be happy to mod, and I'd be happy to suggest other people that might make good mods.

The mods in both politics forums are terrible and Mat has just said he doesn't care, so nothing is going to change.

If Mat doesn't care, then replacing Chezlaw with another mod should be no problem. Pretty much everyone is saying he's got to go, and they've been saying it for a long time.

We take the same view here. We don't even temp ban posters unless they ignore timeouts (or otbc or sometimes previously banned posters)

The aim is to allow posters who break the rules of Pv7.0 to post elsewhere on 2+2 if they wish.

The decision to avoid banning posters from the rest of 2+2 as much as possible was mine alone. It's an attitude that I'd like to see in all forums, particularly ones where it gets heated. The more it gets adopted the better.

No, he didn't. While we're talking about making typos, any time you think you should use an apostrophe, just don't. Any time you have to use their/they're/there, just pick one of them and use it every time. Same for your/you're. At least you'll be right SOME of the time instead of getting it wrong every single time.

Yah, yah, on the one hand it damages the twoplustwo brand, but on the other hand nobody buying a book isn't going to buy a book because of twoplustwo's politics forum. I mean, get real. The forums do suck hard, no doubt. Even some of the other forums are elitist. But, it really doesn't effect the book sales one iota. The only thing that would truly effect book sales would be stuff like NAZI propaganda, and such. And, there is no free speech as it is a private forum, and business is business, and maybe he's a Republican, lol.

I'm less inclined to publish with twoplustwo, but it's not on the horizon anyway. There's always room for competition. That's how the real world works.

TwoPlusTwo can make this site better by

1. Addressing excessive censorship.
2. Addressing the favouritism.

I completely disagree with both remarks.

Having forum space dedicated to politics is a huge benefit in terms of return users and new discussion. Politics alpha is the 8th largest forum on twoplustwo by number of posts, at over 1.6 million.

twoplustwo relies on advertisers, and advertisers like regular users, and lots of them. If for some reason twoplustwo completely deleted this forum and alpha, it is very likely that a large chunk of the user base would be lost, and all the possible future discussion that could occur in the forum would be lost. This would ultimately negatively effect twoplustwo's bottom line.

The successful forums, and the regular users who spend years on here should be seen as company assets by twoplustwo, and I think this is something they might not be doing.

I don't think this forum is a terrible place, I think chezlaw is a terrible mod and he's got to go.
