People, including your husband, were completely and undeniably hurt in the butt because they were being targeted in threads they couldn't participate in. There were no contextual caveats. None.

Someone might have already said this, but I'd say the difference is that people didn't like the idea of being able to start threads where people aren't allowed to participate because it just turns into a bunch of poo throwing with a mound of threads that just contain a few people raging on others. Plus, the idea of starting that kind of thread with the specific intention of dissing excluded posters (that's how I interpreted your intention) seems kind of like a bitch move.

Compare that to the drunk rape thread where you were banned after x months for your actual posting content and it was in a situation where almost everyone disagreed with you and found your posting to be distasteful. Very different, and nothing to do with the future quality of the forum since it's such a rare occurence. I'd say it's pretty lame for fly to be dropping your name regularly but given the context (ongoing discussion from which you were an unpopular participant) it's far less lame than starting a thread specifically for people to do that.

That's my take. I don't think it's hypocritical of keeed or whoever else you mentioned to not be up in arms about it.

Dibby, do you see a difference between people talking about you in a thread where you have been banned so you can't defend yourself and people talking about you in a bad posters thread if you were, hypothetically, permabanned and unable to defend yourself?

There are obviously differences, but they're irrelevant. The droolers screamed and wailed and hysterically sobbed over getting bad mouthed in a thread where they couldn't defend themselves. There were no caveats about it being ok to do so if they were banned based on their behavior vs being prevented from the get go.

I'm now not doing anything other than identifying inconsistencies with the approach of the most hypocritical clique on 2+2.
