That was so great, glad I watched it!

Well, that was the worst possible outcome. Not only did the US win, but it was an exciting and interesting game. A few more games like this and it might give the casual US world cup fan the wrong idea about soccer. It would be a shame to see soccer gain any popularity in the US. Like it might become bigger than women's tennis!

If soccer becomes big in the U.S, you'll literally steal Europe's top players by offering them
exorbitant wages, right? That would be awful

Apparently, USA holds the dishonesty card for later:

Yeah that will never happen. I mean the median player salary in MLS is something like seventy thousand dollars. Aaron Rodgers makes that every three and a half minutes of playing.

Now that's real politics.

MLS just signed a new TV contract for 750m. Wages are going to go up a lot. It's a long process, not a sudden event.

The bigger question is why the **** does this rustle your jimmies? Don't watch ffs, it's not hard. There's no reason to be upset because someone likes something you don't.
06-18-2014 , 04:26 PM
90 million a year, lulz. 60 times less than the NFL. Woman's tennis must be hearing footsteps!

I'm not rustled, just loling at morons who think it will ever catch on in USA#1

Ahahaha wait according to google the MLS salary cap is 2.6 million??? Lololololilol

Not really. You get 3 designated players.

Again, the league is growing every year. Your ****** blather here is the equivalent of making fun of a 5 year old for being short.
06-18-2014 , 04:33 PM
MLS is like the equivalent of a low A minor league team, right? Except without the possibility of meaningful player development?

Every MLS team has a player academy and 15 of 23 USMNT are MLS products with 6 of those having serious time in Europe. This is a big change from when I was going through the system, when the only academy was for the top 30-40 kids in the nation.

Right but since that's developing Americans at soccer it's the equivalent of special ed. Sure you might be able to develop them to the point where they can push a mop around on the night shift, but that's basically it.

No. It's not.

Again, it's funny to see you have such a strident opinion on a subject that you clearly don't know your ass from you elbows on. Why the hell does soccer of all things make you so salty?
06-18-2014 , 04:47 PM
Lol get back to me when any of our elite athletes pick soccer over real sports. Until you get lebron in goal and randy moss playing forward us soccer will remain a joke
06-18-2014 , 04:50 PM
I mean we just got outplayed by a dirt poor nation less than a tenth of our size. Humiliating
06-18-2014 , 04:51 PM
who managed to keep it tied for a grand total of 5 minutes.... ass and elbows man.
06-18-2014 , 04:53 PM
Lol are you seriously saying the us didn't look outclassed the whole match?
06-18-2014 , 04:54 PM
I'm saying goals change how the game is played. Ghana, by any measure, is a lesser than the US. Spew on.
06-18-2014 , 04:56 PM
Never is a long time. And nationalism (outside of the sports world) is dumb.
06-18-2014 , 04:57 PM
Rofl yeah I'm sure the US strategy was "give possession away immediately upon touching the ball"
06-18-2014 , 04:59 PM
Did anyone doubt that World Cup of Bad Posting selection dr. ikestoys wouldn't last very long at not tarding up this thread?

You don't need to be a freak physical specimen to be a world class footballer. Lionel Messi is 5' 7. It's all about technique. Get kids playing the game and get quality coaching in place and standards will improve rapidly. By all accounts the US is getting there.

I read the World Cup threads and to be fair, the good doctor is one of the better US posters.
