they're comfortable with a racist in the white house, which at least puts them racist-adjacent

well, it is clear that you have much different standards for labeling someone a racist than I do. or than anyone reasonable and logical does.

see, if a person supports racist policies, and supports a candidate who is racist, then that person is themselves racist in my book.

its really quite simple. sorry that it hurts your feelings. if you dont want to be a racist, then dont support racist ppl and policies.

I don't lie to myself and think everything in the world is something I want it to be instead of what it actually is. That's why I was right and all of you started looking for therapists. You live in a bubble. Think about that for a second. YOU LIVE IN A BUBBLE.

You people are fools to continue this line of thinking. There are people who are much smarter than me and much dumber than me who all thought Clinton was going to win. I'm just a regular Joe without any incredible intelligence or any type of edge and nailed that call down to the state level.

You think that was some miraculous luck?

Have fun getting your head kicked in for the foreseeable future. I'll be here watching you people implode, laughing the entire time.
Can you expand on how you think this is relevant. I mean, many people (including Republicans) did not think Trump would win. You thought he would win. You were right.

Can you explain how this extrapolates to the rest of the universe. Like, okay, liberals were wrong (by a little ?) about the election result. So what?

It doesn't seem like misogyny. I mean, it is some kind of hatred, but clearly not hatred of women.

This is nonsense. I can support a candidate who has a view I disagree with.

I separate the ideas you've expressed into two different groups. Supporting racist policies = racist. Agreed. Supporting a candidate with racist views may not be racist. I'm sure that'll get flamed, but if you can't see that, just ask yourself if you agree with every view of every candidate you've supported.

I also don't accept that Trump has done anything racist as President. He was accused of expressing some vile views about black people. He said something stupid and possibly racist about a Mexican American judge. But he hasn't done anything racist as President that we know of.

Full disclosure, I didn't vote for Trump because I don't live in a swing state.

Re: Politics v7.0 Moderation thread

Honestly, I think the insistence on using the word "racist" is counterproductive as it just provokes the dumbest of responses, and these things can be easily argued without using it.

For example,

Wow, sick gotcha, really proved his point wrong there by pointing out how discriminating against Muslims isn't literally racist.

Fine, who cares whether we classify the ridiculous and dumb **** that he's done as president as racist or not? Like, the things he's done, #withfewexceptions, are ridiculous and dumb and make The United States of America worse.

Why do you support him?

Well, Wil said if he weren't sure that someone entering the bathroom was a woman that he'd intervene. You realise that this naturally includes the claim that he might stop to interrogate and/or inspect a genetic female if he sees it appropriate, right?

I think that fundamental lack of respect for women can, perhaps, be called misogyny.

That's if you don't want to consider trans people to be women.

Yeah, I don't think it indicates a fundamental lack of respect for women, specifically. I mean, I'm not saying it's not dumb; I am just nit picking.

Re: Politics v7.0 Moderation thread

Yeah, but even playing semantics that's ****ing stupid.

Thinking Wil personally has the right to stop and interrogate/inspect women trying to use a public bathroom whenever he wants explicitly expresses his idea that his personal phobias matter more than some woman trying to go about the day unmolested.

Re: Politics v7.0 Moderation thread

Yes, of course, sure, but I don't think that he feels his phobias matter more than specifically some woman trying to go about the day unmolested. If he needed to molest men to stop the trans people from going into bathrooms with his daughter, I'm sure he would be equally willing.

Okay, so you think Wil potentially being disrespectful or hateful towards other men means he can't also be a misogynist?

That's a pretty dumb idea you've got there.

No. I said that the specific behavior being discussed is not misogynistic. I did not say that his engagement in such behavior precludes any possibility of him being a misogynist.

The specific act we're discussing is that he respects women so little he thinks he has the right to molest them.

There are white Muslims and black Muslims and Asian Muslims but it's just a certain kind (middle eastern) that really triggers the right. But oh, of course, totally has nothing to do with race!

I've met many Muslims. Most were from Africa or Pakistan.

I dunno. Call me crazy, I like to use words in the English language correctly. Maybe it's just me.

Muslims are not a race therefore it is ok to discriminate against them.

Nah. In the common use, misogyny implies a specific discrimination against women. Simply being an ******* to everyone would not qualify.

English. ENGLISH. Do you speak it?

There are words and they have meaning. Again, what RACE is "Muslim"? Is Cat Stevens or Mike Tyson banned from the USA?

You use the term, not me. You are the one defending it, not me. Explain yourself please.

Who, me? I didn't use the term. I didn't call anyone racist. I just think it's super obvious what they mean when they say Muslim bans are racist (they mean prejudiced and bigoted) and I think it's completely disingenuous of you to focus on that.

I've already said I think people could benefit from just using different words because then you wouldn't be able to put up that ridiculous strawman.
