Kellogg's Boycott Kellogg's Boycott

12-02-2016 , 10:17 PM
So Kellogg's pulled all their ads off of Breitbart because it's allegedly some hotbed of white nationalism and racism. Breitbart is hitting back by leading a boycott of Kellogg's products. It's not just cornflakes either, it's also PopTarts and Pringle's and those delicious Cheez-Its crackers I love so much.

How do y'all feel about this pressing issue? Both Breitbart and Kellogg's are, of course, quite within their rights to act as they have. How will you as a consumer act though; how will you vote with your PopTart dollars?

I'm with Breitbart on this one, I'd say. I'll be boycotting all Kellogg's products for now. It'll be rough for me to eschew those delicious Cheez-It Duoz, the parmesan and sharp cheddar kind, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make for a higher cause.

Why are you with Breitbart on this one? What is the higher cause that you're boycotting Kellogg's products for?

If you found out that it wasn't just alleged, and Breitbart actually was a hotbed of racism and white nationalism, would you switch allegiances to Kellogg's?

Noted Nixon fan supports white nationalism.

In other news, dog bites man.

Whelp, throw "allegedly" on the pile of "things were gonna need a new word for".

Haven't had cornflakes for years. Going to get some, yum.

I thought in England they were called "Corn whole flakes".

Nope. Kellogg's Corn Flakes

I was making a silly joke.
12-03-2016 , 08:38 AM
ah sorry missed it. One difference about the cornflakes here is that because we're in the ****ing EU, each flake has to be flat.

Is that some weird law over there? In Canada no clear liquid is allowed to contain caffeine, so we have some stupid laws also.
12-03-2016 , 08:50 AM
I thought cornflakes was an insulting name for white people.

First World problems... lol

I don't think you're supposed to say "first world" these days fyi.

I'm too lazy and selfish to participate in boycotts, but all the pub did make me go check out Breitbart. My, they don't like liberals over there.
12-03-2016 , 01:39 PM
Pringles and Cheez-its are elite snacks, so that's a no-brainer. I'm not 8 years old so I care much less about frosted flakes.

This is smart marketing right? It's basically a national ad campaign free of charge.

What's going on with the bananas?
12-03-2016 , 05:55 PM
No-one seems quite sure but we do know that we are extremely annoyed about it.

Nothing.

Scroll down to Annex 1. 'Extra Class' bananas can't have 'defects in shape'. Class I bananas can have 'slight defects in shape'. Class II bananas can have 'defects in shape'.

The current 2011 EU wholesale rules for unripe bananas replace the 1994 rules which were, in fact, much the same. But Boris Johnson in his Telegraph column as Brussels correspondent in the Nineties, when he just blatantly made stuff up, insisted that the original rules were either banning or enforcing 'straight bananas'. Completely untrue.

He's now claiming that the EU will only allow shops to sell bananas 'in bunches of two or three'. Again, he's just lying. There is no such rule, and the EU rules are for wholesale and not retail anyway.
