Coerced patriotism is always disgusting. No one opposed to him seems to really care about what's in the guys heart. They just want him to obey. That's disgusting. If Kaepernick does nothing but draw out the nature of the slime who support the status quo then he has done something worthtwhile.

Deuces, we agree!

I honestly think this is one of the best forms of protest available.

There is also a slight possibility I collect 230 off Master3004 and 1,000 off LG. But, I won't dance on anyone's grave yet.

Re: Kaepernick

I don't think what Kaepernick did was necessarily a protest. He just didn't feel the need to support our flag or our country. I think he was also concerned that the spotlight was no longer on him. He obviously knows he screwed up because now he is just kneeling during the anthem. His actions are clearly unauthentic. It was only after the firestorm that he actually took real action. Now the other sheep will follow. It's like a standing ovation. One person stands up and now the other people figure they better as well or they'll look bad.

Do you all think that these "protests" are helping the cause? If I was a cop this would just piss me off. If I was a cop I would simply avoid going into black areas. How can this be a good thing?

Ironically, I would bet black people hate White people more than White people hate black people.I don't think any of my white friends hate black people, however, they all think these protests make them look like idiots. In my life I have seen a downward trend in racism and bigotry. I fear that this trend is going to end because of the BLM and other protests going on. People need to pump the brakes on their Rush to judgement based on what they see or here on social media. The BLM movement is based on a false narrative "hands up, don't shoot". Let's slow down and get all the facts first.

Always, the paternalistic concern whoring.

Why to you presume to give IRL activists strategic advice? Do you have any studies, or practical experience, to share? That and this... For years now I have heard the word "Wait!" It rings in the ear of every Negro with piercing familiarity. This "Wait" has almost always meant "Never." We must come to see, with one of our distinguished jurists, that "justice too long delayed is justice denied."

Yeah it's amazing when you consider one guy sitting, when it is suggested he stand, is an international news item and widespread debate. So it's clearly effective. It's respectful, legal, and pithy in a way that a lot of protests aren't.

I think that if we ever get the justice system reformed and have a look back at these times in the future a lot of people will be embarrassed to have come down hard on this modest form of protest.

Just because he didn't plan everything out perfectly doesn't mean he is inauthentic. He's a football player, not an experienced activist. Anyone who goes from that coddled life to taking a political stand, unilaterally, is certainly authentic.

It would help more if white players would join in.

Who cares what cops think. Cops are tools. They do what they are told to do. This is about the drug war, rights, and policies. Protests aim at a much higher level than the hired goons.

I don't see why that would be ironic given the history and the present.

Still, black people don't hate white people. They hate how white people treat them. Religious people call that hating the sin but not the sinner. White people, on the other hand, have been indoctrinated to both fear and subjugate black people, and both of those objectives will lead to hate or disdain.

Now, you will say, "I've not been indoctrinated in any such way". But history and research suggest otherwise.

I don't see how this would be effective, unless you'd be willing to meet me and do it in person, which is not something I'd care for, so it'll never happen.

I guess if you just like spewing random nothings on the internet, then it makes sense. Burn whatever you wish.

BTW...are these idiots/sheep going to disrespect the United States this Sunday 911. That's not gonna go over well. They will be basically showing their support for terrorists.

It's time for the NFL to shut this nonsense down. This shouldn't be happening in their stadiums on their time.

2996 people died on 9/11, 170,000 civilians have died in Iraq since that date. If by "terrorist" you mean those whom are oppressed in their own country by foreign soldiers then I'm with them.

Your fake patriotism sickens me...

It makes you angry in large part for the same reason showing an image of Muhammed makes most Muslims angry. It's what that anthem represents to us, and what not standing for it means. We Americans, even the secular among us, are just as easily entranced by sacred things as the next human, and I love that. It's important to make things sacred so that we can build them up as examples for all to see, and so we can tear them down for the same reason.

Instead, amazingly enough, the NFL is enabling these on-the-clock protests in the stadiums. Because of this, shouldn't your anger really be directed equally, perhaps even primarily, at the NFL owners?

Don't feed the trolls...

He is obviously oblivious to the world at large and seemingly lives in a incredible small bubble. Anyone who spews rhetoric such as "don't wear hoodies otherwise you'll be justifiable killed" or tell people "if they don't like it then leave." In response to any form of "anti patriotism" should obviously be left to his or hers own devices & preferably not be allowed to reproduce.

It's amazing how many false premises can be in one sentence:

1. It's "our" flag.
2. Not supporting our flag is not supporting our country.
3. It's good to support a flag.
4. It's good to support a country.

There are more.

I agree the NFL and the owners are enabling this nonsense. The problem is that the people of this country are enslaved to political correctness. No one sees things as they are, they see things how others think things should be. This creates bitterness, but does not motivate productive action. Until people accept how their actions have created their situation, they will not know what action is needed to improve that situation.

MLK lead a movement that was riteous and certaintly a worthy cause given the oppressive conditions that existed during this time. The racial environment now does not come close to compare to this. Have you noticed all of those whom protest now days are younger people. You don't here much from the older generation of black people. The reason for this is that they know that things are vastly improved and constantly trending upwards for their people. The younger generation has become so used to entitlements and getting their way. Those you see protesting have been spoiled by society and are ignorant of how things work in the real world.

A year from now nothing will have changed. In fact, I think conditions will get worse. Until there is a paradigmic attitudinal shift there will be no change. BLM started a couple years ago. Are things better now? I rest my case!
