I'll just go ahead and say I don't think spank should ever be banned for his style of bad posting, but I would approve of giving him a series of temp-bans of increasing length.

Is this like when you think you've posted some gotcha, like yesterday when you pointed out that I had responded to spank earlier that day? The point was a grown up should be able to act in a reasonable manner and spank seems to fail consistently.

Modding is a voluntary position but if a forum is to be moderated there will be an overhead and whoever accepts the position will have to deal with hard work high maintenance posters and whether it's voluntary or not I don't see why they should have to.

They don't have to but if Mat wants (or Mat supports a forum that wants) the forum to allow these posters then volunteering for the position means dealing with them.

I don't know if that's what Mat wants but he has indicated a minimum of modding for PU that suggest he may not want people permabanned. Then again he may not give a hoot.

There are degrees of unreasonableness, posting the same **** 3 ways consecutively in the same thread is a whole different type of unreasonable, being a dick in every correspondence then declaring a victory against everyone is a different type of unreasonableness. Constantly badgering other posters / mods for days over a decision is a different type of unreasonableness.

I think repeated temp bans are, I think posters who repeatedly ignore moderator requests should be exiled from that forum. I am not a fan of bans but I do think mods are entitled to exile those posters who create the most work for them.

You respond by pointing to the first post in the exchange which as a gotcha is pretty poor and makes me think I was wrong to consider you the idiot's cavalry rather than just another idiot.

Kerowo knew how Spank would respond to his thread being deleted. He created this situation and then bans him for protesting Kerowos bad modding.

I'm not sure what your point is. There are constraints on mods. The main one is what Mat wants - they are volunteering in a forum he runs.

The other point was JJ saying he thinks repeated temp bans are ridiculous - I think I may agree with him slightly more than you do but either way they are a part of the culture.

Alternatively spank knew what would happen to his no content thread because of what happened to yours. He posted the thread knowing it would get closed or deleted and thus give him a reason to feel aggrieved and a reason to complain.
