That said, I'll assume this Repub politician attacked a reporter without justification - like was this at a closed campaign event, where the reporter had broken in - I don't know. Assuming not, that it was just a press conference, then obviously the politician is an idiot, and violating free speech (and more so, free press) would be atrocious. Vile.

I don't appreciate any implications that most conservatives would support violations of free speech and press. That is mistaken.

Similarly if your on the right and make excuses for this guy but are upset about Berkely you are also a hypocrite. What happened in Berkeley is more sickening to me though.

Not saying this to you directly more in general as alot on this forum couldn't bring themselves to condemn pepper spraying women, launching fireworks into the crowd or hitting passive people with bike locks.
