Drive-by talking points, name-calling, complete lack of nuance and depth. Utterly superficial and a complete waste of time. Totally uninterested in learning or being challenged. That's the poster that should be taken out to sea and left in a small dinghy. Anybody who's at least trying to learn, understand, and grow should (in general) be encouraged.
I agree Cerveza and a few others like him are completely worthless. But they post infrequently.

I would say there are a lot of posters like him (Sputnik, Ominshakira, etc) who fit your description - though, they might as well all be the same person. There's nothing distinctive about them to single one of them out over the other. None of them has ever had anything more then a superficial exchange so they all have no discernible identity.

At least people like Ikes, Fly, Deuces, bahbah, etc. - people know who they are. A bad regular with a definable personality will always stand out above the Cerveza's who are sporadic posters whose personality can be no deeper described then "fratboyish troll"

Spank is DS's gimmick, right?

I think that's a safe bet, after recent posts in the degreen thread

I'm still sure that someone could, if they felt motivated to, find an instrument to gauge the terribleness of posts. Granted, it would not be strictly quantitative a la TheDuker, but I still think we could create an effective rubric for judging post quality.

Never mind, this is too stupid even for spank:

There's a whole group of bigoted posters that all blend together because their message is all the same. He's mos def one of those for me.

Hey - when does the 2nd round get started? Does ABC have the broadcast rights to this or something?
09-16-2014 , 01:03 PM
if I start a "who are the bad ATF posters?" thread, what's the o/u on moderator action?
09-16-2014 , 01:05 PM
depends on your definition of moderator action

Probably can increase your chance of moderator action if you go with "who are the racist ATF posters?"

I'm not against it in principle - especially if it stuck to the actual content of people's posts. But that seems almost impossible to do and the thread will likely end poorly...

Edit: Also, there's a good chance somebody other than me would take action.

well I meant to specify that I would start it in ATF.
09-16-2014 , 01:37 PM
Ah. That's just a bad idea then. It would be entertaining though.
09-16-2014 , 03:12 PM
Death by cop so close to 60k would be a shame tho

Alternatively, how would a "what to call the next Bruce thread" poll go over? Options of "re-de-green" and "de-re-green" obviously

Just bump this... Re: Who are the bad ATF poasters?

I was pretty sure I had started that thread but when I searched for posts I started I didn't find it.

Great idea imo.

Merely bad posts: 0.01-0.25 DIBs
Very bad posts: 0.26-0.50 DIBs
Extraordinarily bad posts: 0.51-0.75 DIBs
Transcendently terrible posts: 0.76-0.99 DIBs
09-17-2014 , 01:54 AM
^lol. Need to change 'transcendently' to be a limit approaching the asymptote of DIB-level posting.

I'll show myself out

Spoiler:
to SMP

if thekid isn't a troll, then he's a real contender

alexm doesn't even post about politics does he? every post is literally complaining about someone calling someone else a name, so i had to go with the kid

Someone in another thread said they wanted to wait to vote in bahbah vs Gamblor and didn't realize they wouldn't be able to go back and vote later. Might be relevant given they are tied.
09-19-2014 , 01:23 PM
actually gamblor is up by one, since we have an unqualified vote in the mix

That was me. I guess if there is a tie I could just log in and vote with the Goodie account.

I kind of like low key and he didn't used to be bad (like pre-2014) and honestly one of his worst qualities is that he engages spank and makes him post more. Ultimately though, I think lowkey's tribalism, stubbornness, and occasional outright childishness is much more frustrating than spank's easily skippable verbal diarrhea.
I had to abstain since LK gave me some solid World of Warcraft tips in the Video Games forum a long time ago and spank is from Bama. I trust everyone else is on top of things though.
