I think the OPs suggestion of ignoring (but not really 'ignoring) people is foolish.

If someone makes a post that gets you to respond, that's important, even if their post is asinine, or flaming.

For example, it's HIGHLY likely no one responds to my post. Just based on the number of responses I typically get.

Why?

Because my posts are likely not as interesting (even if in a negative) way than the individuals mentioned by the OP.

Discussion, even argument, even silly stupid a-hole like heated arguments are better than silence, IMO.
