per support... so, seeing as I have Vista (I realize it's old as dirt), anyone know of work around until Santa maybe brings a new laptop? I know there was a free Windows 10 upgrade, but would that include me? Any help or direction is appreciated

Ok so how can I withdraw my money from the site now? If I can't log in. Shame that I will have to stop playing on WPN

It properly won't help, but if you are on Twitter, it maybe worth a shot...

It's not 2007 anymore, guys, time to move on...

Microsoft no longer supports XP. Vista support was supposed to end but was extended for a few more months. It is likely time to upgrade... Good news, Cyber Monday is tomorrow and there are great deals

I think a point keeps being missed and not addressed/not acknowledged.

Some of us woke up to this with no prior warning.
No email. No notification of any kind.

Are any of you not wondering about the rec players who are not on here that just woke up to this change and are freaking out because they can't access the site or their money?

More importantly, how does the decision of no prior warning to it's customers reflect on the company?

Does this not concern any of you that this specific decision didn't affect?

What other decisions can we expect in the future to just "wake up to" one day without any warning?

I can't believe this is just being glossed over and ignored.

I think this decision speaks to a bigger issue and reflects very poorly on this site.

If you're using a 20 year old operating system still what do you expect?

+1

I play poker on a Vista laptop and it would have been nice if the idiots running the place over at WPN would have let some of us piece of **** players know they were just gonna cut off Vista machines from playing at their site. INSTEAD I have to put in hours figuring out why I am getting this weird error message that I initially blamed on Norton Anti-Virus.

After reading from other players the real shotiness of the upgrade/update, combined with the complete brainfart on the Vista notification issue, makes me start to wonder about what is going on over at WPN.

Myself, I have played on this same Vista laptop/26in monitor for many years and it just contains poker programs. I have other computers so it does not present that much of a problem to me personally, but I can feel for those that don't have the luxury to upgrade to a newer machine, especially if they run the old programs/applications that become very expensive to update.

For the record - Vista has not even been around for a full 10 years...

Right, should have clarified that I meant XP. I made the assumption that everyone skipped Vista based on how awful it was. XP was awesome, but I have no idea why you would still be using it in 2016. Didn't they discontinue support entirely, AKA no security patches for quite some time?

Actually Vista still has security patches for at least a few more months

What is so funny is that WPN still supports Doyles Room software.

I'm not trying to offend these players, but seriously if they can't afford to buy a new laptop, they shouldn't be gambling online.

But yes, I fully agree with your concern about the lack of notification. WPN definitely dropped the ball on that.

+2. I had no idea why it wasn't working so I just started playing on Carbon again. Sending an email out would be wise of WPN. They're likely losing a lot of customers.

FWIW it wasnt something we knew would happen as it should of been cut off a long time ago and not supported.

Does not surprise me. Either your developers smoke dope before/during work just like the CEO or they are simply sloppy and lack the knowledge of the platform they develop on. My money is on a mix of both.

Shameful attempt at justifying your oversight.

It appears as if someone knew - If WPN didn't know it would happen how do you explain the change in ACRs website FAQs from October 13, 2016 to Nov 25, 2016? (Thank You to Internet Wayback)

"We currently support all standard versions of Microsoft Windows from Windows XP onwards. We also support Mac."

to

"We currently support all standard versions of Microsoft Windows from Windows 7 onwards. We also support Mac."

I don't get this post. They do an update on 21 November, OP creates this thread on 23 November, and they update their FAQ on the 25 November?

Also I'd rather see WPN upgrade and improve their software than not doing any updates at all, just to keep it compatible for old operating systems which are not that relevant anymore.

Win XP was only 4 years old when Doyles Room software (what WPN is built upon) came out. Look through the logs and you will still find Doyles Room written all over them.
