WPN buys DTB? WPN buys DTB?

Saw this posted elsewhere. Can anyone from WPN say when this might be implemented?

WPN is going to make DragTheBar 100% free to everyone, while keeping all the same coaches on board and existing content on the site. It was always a goal of ours at DTB to make poker training accessible to everyone, and we're very happy that WPN is finally making that possible.

While myself and my team will be stepping aside, we hope you guys continue to enjoy and benefit from DTB going forward.

i heard through a reliable source (coach at DTB) that this news is true

Carbon recently stopped using free DTB membership in their promotions. That would certainly explain why.

In the first twitch stream the WPN CEO did he stated that he helped start DTB when he was going over his experience in the poker industry. This is awesome news, but not that shocking considering that tidbit. My first thought is that this is bad for winning players, but it's not that bad after thinking about it. I guess there's already a lot of free strategy info already out there on the web & people still need to put in the time and effort to get better.

its quite irrelevant in that regard imo.

there is a wealth of info out there, this acquisition is in no shape or form going to improve the player base at WPN

I don't think I would go that far. It might only have a small effect, but it's going to have some effect, likely.

I had an old account there from years ago. I just logged into that account and I'm able to watch the videos for free.

If WPN does a lot of advertising on that site, they can bring in a lot of new players to WPN. DTB doesn't really cater to the top end players like BlueFire, for example, so I think that it would probably bring in a lot of newish developing players to the site.

Yes kahn this is interesting ... Don't think it would change much as far as play goes on wpn, if they wanted to learn they would without this.

I myself will be heading over there for the free material, why not.

Wow...I just came across this thread and logged into my old DTB account and sure enough - Everything is accessible and free.

So that's it now: The site will always be free as it's being sponsored by WPN?

This is fantastic news and I'm thrilled to see how aggressive WPN is being on the marketing and expansion front. This is definitely the best network to be on at this point for any US player.

Yes, this is true. We've not yet sent out an official email/announcement, but we will soon.

It really seems as if you guys over at WPN are starting to get it. There's a huge, huge vacuum in the US market that you are beginning to fill quite nicely with decisions like this.

Keep up the great work...

I think that one interesting aspect of this that hasn't been brought up is that in acquiring DTB this network has just acquired a very large database of potential players. What I find really ironic is that Carbon used free membership in DTB to attract players. WPN now has the list of those members.

Good point. I think it's only a matter of time before WPN blows right passed Merge. They're basically neck and neck in numbers as it is right now. Any true grinder is going to be better suited on WPN than Merge at this point.

Carbon just got checkraised.
