Players Help!!

Ok so yesterday it was brought to my attention and its not the first time.

However for the first time i actually witnessed what happened.

Two Ukrainian players activated their timebank then also their DC timebank on purpose to stall for the money.

I am now taking action and will be suspending these players.

If you have names please PM me. Do not list them here as i am not going to publicly out names. It will be investigated and acted upon.

Thanks

Re: Players Help!!

That happens a lot. It happens a real lot when a brand new table opens at the last minute and it is filled with new players. They all time out and one after the other will oddly 'lose their internet'. Glad you're on top of this, I cannot imagine how petty someone has to be to jump in at the last minute with the sole intention of timing out to min cash.

Take their 'winnings' and then once a month use it for a invite freeroll or something.

Re: Players Help!!

i honestly dont think this is a problem. they simply exhausted their resources. not to mention they will min cash, leaving the top prizes more available to players chasing them.

This can't be a serious post.

Good work on this Winning_TD. Things like this are bad for the game.

It is definitely a problem. Play will almost stop the last seats into the bubble. How is this fair to the player that has been at it and now short on a table full of deep stacks?

I would think manipulating the game outside standard play is also a violation of the T&C. Dropping $40 and then play delay games to get an 8 or 9 dollar profit? Players embarrass themselves doing this and its bad for the game/network. Good riddance to them.

What you are talking about here is the real problem and is a result of such long late registration periods. Two simple solutions, either shorten the late reg so that it doesn't end so close to the bubble or simply don't allow the system to open a new table full of late registrants. I don't see why instead those new players can't just be mixed into other tables, am I wrong in thinking this?

No. It used to be the tables sat 9 players and the scavengers would wait til a new table opened and pounced. I have to be honest, I did it several times. I never timed down or turned off WiFi to buy time. I would shove and steal blinds usually. I only did it when the bubble was very near to my entry point. They now have the tables with only 8 players when it gets down to the wire. It rarely happens that a new table opens with all fresh players, but when it does....its a royal pain in the azz. I've been deep stacked and short stacked when it occurs. Either way, it sucks the life out of the game while some dipshizz wants to time out and min cash. The 90 second time out for disconnect is really bad. If several do it on a new table, they can almost snooze into the money.

There has to be a way to data mine the players that have 'connection issues' on a regular basis and see if it magically happens around the bubble. I would think a simple python program would pull that out. Then they can be dealt with by mgmt.

I don't think the length of registration has anything to do with it. I see it as how close to the bubble last minute entry is. You don't have these problems in games that have dozens of seats to go til the bubble. If you slow the blind level down, the game takes longer. If you shorten the late registration, the purse comes down, most likely, and you still have games that run very close to the bubble. Some people genuinely have internet issues, but there are some that regularly have them right around the time of the bubble.

Re: Players Help!!

Instead of shortening the total late reg, just add more time to the blind structure...or more blind levels in the middle of the game. There's pretty much no reason late reg should go as shallow as <10bb starting stacks imho, or we will have problems like these. If the entries go down a bit, just lower the GTD a bit because it was probably too high in the first place.

edit - Random thought, but what if WPN was able to pause the last blind level until the GTD was met?

Re: Players Help!!

Near-bubble and late-registration are never going to mix well. Seems like there are significant drawbacks to all approaches that do not involve separating them.

I don't think it is a negative effect to not want to play hu or 3 handed while other tables are 8-9 handed.. However, to purposely DC is different.. I don't believe stalling one or two hands due to the software delaying moving players is a negative.

Re: Players Help!!

I would reduce the clock then reduce the disconnect clock to 30secs in the last level you can register. Then after min cash reset everybody clock back to normal. If you really wanna take it to the extreme you can up the ante.

Re: Players Help!!

So...is this b/c of late reg + making the money type deal...b/c i see (and have done this in tournaments before) where I am short stacked and the blinds are high, with several tables left, more often then not the hand for hand doesnt kick in until the stone bubble. I only do it because everyone else does (stall) ? Is this against the rules??

Re: Players Help!!

Stalling using your timebank is fine. Its when you purposely disconnect from the site to get the DC timebank, now that is not fine.

No one has a name?
