Official petition to change wpn mucked showdowns Official petition to change wpn mucked showdowns

Just started actually playing on here again for the first time in a couple of months. I just want to clarify that things are working as intended for me:

When I go to showdown and I have the winning hand, even though I have automuck ticked on (always) it shows my hand to the whole table. If I go to showdown and lose while automuck is ticked on, it mucks my cards and nobody sees them. Is this how it works on WPN? And what you guys in this thread want is for both the winner(s) and loser(s) of a hand to have to show their cards, right?

Yes. We want to be able to see our opponents cards when we call them or they call us even though we won the hand.

I'm no longer playing on WPN for a while. My own personal protest until this and other software improvements are implemented. Best of Luck!!

Ok FYI...

The last update we had was the 1st stage we had to complete before the logic is changed. The next stage is the final stage and will be ready very soon. (sorry no exact dates but its hard to give it when i dont know)

Excellent news. I think WPN is the only real option for US players... They just need to capitalize on it a bit more. The software is kind of mediocre but for the most part seems to have good functionality and there aren't really any restrictions on players (table limits, penalizations for winning, etc.)

Merge seems to have the wrong attitude towards players (limiting tables for winners... Really?), Bovada only allows 4 tables and is anonymous, Equity seems good too but their software is absolutely horrendous, haven't explored what's left of Revolution but they appear to have the lowest traffic and their software looks kind of meh.

+1 but seems like this is working out if updates are true

I have not been in the business of running a poker site but I can imagine that what seems like "simple" changes are most likely actually fairly difficult and resource intensive. I doubt that WPN has an army of coders on hand like PS to make really rapid changes, so changes are likely feel slow even if they were to start working on them the moment they are requested.

Overall this is good news though. I think this is a useful change to the software.

I agree with Garrett WPN is the only option. Why would anyone want play at the other sites.

2 weeks is nothing in terms of rolling out an update for any software, let alone a major update like this for a poker client (look at how long PS7 was in beta). There is so much back and forth between developers and internal testers that goes on when updating software that most people just don't have a clue about. Every single thing has to be tested multiple times, by multiple testers, even if the code for said portion of the software was not touched, to look for any regressions and if any regression is discovered and more code is changed that means the internal test cases have to start over at square 1.

{.font=sarcasm}Yeah, you can definitely tell that any changes made to the WPN client have been regression tested to death before the public even gets a whiff of them. {./font}

The software development team is one coffee and energy drink gulping person with steam rising from his forehead. He's the only person with any idea how the software works. He works seventy hour weeks, but about four of those hours are spent actually coding and testing enhancements, the specs for which are defined / redefined / reprioritized by the last person he spoke to on the phone at any given moment. The standard that needs to be met before making a change to the live environment is "this will probably mostly work, and probably won't crash the whole app".

I used to be that guy for a mid-sized (non-gaming related) business. So maybe I'm just projecting? I have no actual inside knowledge, it just looks that way from where I'm sitting.

ive been told though that the wpn software, is a very difficult one to work with.... so some changes are tricky for them

I absolutely believe that, given how long it takes to make changes, how many little buggy things happen, and how often changes cause issues.

In well-constructed, well documented software, any competent developer can make changes relatively quickly and easily, with a relatively small chance that a change to one thing will break other things. Then those changes can be carefully reviewed and thoroughly tested before release.

From the outside, I'm guessing that changes to WPN's software are like playing a game of Jenga.

Ideally in that situation one starts from scratch and invests in a new platform that will be both better and, in the long run, cheaper (mistakes and a slower pace of change than competitors are expensive). But that usually requires a major investment in the future. Of course in US-facing online poker, the future is uncertain.

I just recently came back to wpn, and it appears that they are now showing hole cards when every one is effectively all in in a hand. However, they are NOT showing hole cards when 2 people are capped in a cap game. I haven't played cap games anywhere else but isn't it common practice to reveal hands when every one caps in a cap game?

If so, I think we should extend this petition or possibly start a new one.

I would rather be able to resize the hand replayer. Why must it fill the entire screen?
