Grinding the Challenges? Grinding the Challenges?

the potential profit more than makes up for the minuscule edge that is lost due to the rise in stakes

Not sure what others think, but im wondering if open shoving all premium hands is +ev.

its not because you wont get called as often.

9 times outta 10 your opponent will play the hand post flop

if it works ill stand corrected, but i really dont see it working

Well finished 100 games at the $5 level.

55 wins 45 loses and a profit of -19. However, I cleared some of the bonus and that gave me a very slight profit.

These things remind me of trying to grind DoNs.

I will probably do another 100 of these, as I feel i've learned some things and can profit even without the bonus.

I mean, if i can beat micros in real poker, I should be profitable. Just hope that skillbet starts marketing to attract lots of fish

*cough* facebook Zynga players *cough*

I'm surprised people like the challenges so much...

I would have thought challenges would have represented 5-10% of the play, but it's about 35-40%....

What do you like about them (more than live)?

you can play them at any time without having to wait for an opponent, and once you start, the hands are also faster since each ends as soon as you are done. strategy is also much more complex due to the structure than live play.

i think a lot of people also just have more fun playing wto formats where there is no such thing as breaking even (over 1 sample anyway).

the challenge is interesting because

1) no cushion play, some other thread had some discussion about people losing the buy-in an d then just pushing since they already lost the max. No concern with challenges, winner keeps all.

2) no waiting for a game.

3) can churn out 3 challenges in 30 minutes, check results later.

I'm usually watching youtube/netflix while playing :P I guess if I approached it like a job I could double my poker output.

Haven't really been playing much on Skillbet, but I am of the opinion now that they are only slightly profitable with a bonus to clear (if at all)

What do others think?

The live tables are much more profitable IMO. If you're break evenish in the challenges the rake will eat you alive even with the bonus. It's very hard to beat the challenges at a high enough rate to really make any money, that was my experience anyway (despite being something like a 55-45 winner over 75 or so $5s).

I think the challenges seem beatable, but Ive only played slightly over 30 in the 10.00 level. The strategy I employ is very unorthadox as opposed to my usual game. Sometimes it gets me in the red but its been working fairly well overall at this time. Seems like there's a pretty good mix of players regging for them. The 10's seem to be where im settling for a bit.

For me, the challenges are too boring. I think the two opponents should have to play at the same time, just like the live game. Winner take all and there wouldn't be a cushion.

if you played challenges simultaneously and with knowledge of each others scores it would become something that doesn't resemble normal poker at all. that's not to say that it wouldn't be entertaining and/or fun though.

i like the element of surprise the challenges offer

always gets my blood rumbling when its time to showdown the scores
