Re: Witch Doctor Thread: The Theon Greyjoy of DIII
I'm level 53 now and still using that build. I'm probably going to change it pretty soon, but it worked really well for me. Pestilence is awesome for clearing out tons of trash mobs and pretty reasonable against elite packs as well. If you get good at using jaunt/splinters/pestilence/soul harvest you can get some pretty absurd monster kill and massacre bonuses consistently.

Is anyone here using a non splinter build that doesn't rely on VQ?
Currently using splinters for single target damage and plague of toads for groups and health regen (have about 900 loh) but I find myself using toads more than splinters and it feels like I'm wasting my 120/22 crit.

Re: Witch Doctor Thread: The Theon Greyjoy of DIII
I switched to acid cloud VQ. I'm really clumsy and one thing that made VQ tolerable is having 5 cooldown skills, not 4. 4 is just too easy to make mistakes

Yeah, I tried bats with spirit walk, zombie wall, fetish army, hex and grasp but it still feels broken as ****, I'm looking to avoid VQ at all costs while still being able to utilize my crits.

Re: Witch Doctor Thread: The Theon Greyjoy of DIII
How about splinters, acid cloud, wall/spirit walk/horrify/grasp/hex/etc?
After this patch you will still need some HP and resists/armor, pure glass cannon won't really cut it

Re: Witch Doctor Thread: The Theon Greyjoy of DIII
Hey guys!!
I'm currently in Act 1 Inferno with a tank/proc Acid Rain build. I'm using a set of magic find gear, because I believe that magic find swap will be disabled with the next update, so I'm getting good magic find items now.
I don't know what item to upgrade next. I'm willing to spend 1-2 million on an upgrade, or 5-10 million on an upgrade for an item that will last me a long time.
Here's my current loadout
Any advice on which item I should look to upgrade most urgently? i.e. which slot is the weakest of the ones I have?

Re: Witch Doctor Thread: The Theon Greyjoy of DIII
Bracers with magic find & some proc effect seems like a good place to start. The belt is pretty meh but has a good proc and magic find. I'm not sure how easy it is to find good upgrades for proc effect items since I've never shopped SC for them before.

Depends what you want to do.
If you're happy grinding Act 1 then you should focus on maxing out MF. In which case Bracers, Chest and Helm are prolly where you want to start.
If you want to start gearing up for later acts then your Resists (Resist All) are pretty low. Since you don't really have resist all on anything, I'd start by bargain hunting for RA on all gear.
What's your DPS? Your weapon's LOH is pretty low, can you afford to sacrifice some DPS for more LOH? Biggest decision on tanky WD IMO is whether to go Shield or Mojo. Shield can make you a lot more tanky but obv sacrifice your DPS. And because of the way the auction house works (is broken) Mojos can be found as real bargains while Shields are expensive.

Re: Witch Doctor Thread: The Theon Greyjoy of DIII
Here's my MF gear. Lots of room for improvement here but I've been concetrating on my non-MF set. 24K DPS unbuffed. Act 1 is easy mode with this gear, Act 3 is brutal.
Warrior's Gear (1,250,000)
Pugilist's Pursuit (2,900,000)
Glory Boon (469,999)
Cleave Inferno (7,500,000)
Loathing Dome (450,000)
Inscrutable Aegis (1,500,000)
Stalwart Nexus (3,333,333)
Living Bounders (550,000)
Distance Chastity (199,999)
Eminence Nexus (2,000,000)
Archer's Arts (240,000)
Glory Boon (469,999)
Juju Stand (7,999,999)
(Prices may be out of date, some of this I've had a while)

Re: Witch Doctor Thread: The Theon Greyjoy of DIII
wowow. It's much much easier to find good equip if you're not looking for both proc and magic find. Those two together seem to be really tough to get. Still looking for good bracers!
I bought a new weapon for 1 million in order to get more life on hit. Almost the same DPS but more LOH now. I guess I could even consider getting a magic find amulet now? Amulets go up to 40%, that is pretty sweet
I can't use a shield because I"m using 5 cooldown acid cloud. Anything with 4 cooldowns is just too hard to manage for me, and acid cloud drinks mana insanely quick.

Re: Witch Doctor Thread: The Theon Greyjoy of DIII
Wow it is seriously insanely hard to get decent items for bracers, belt, and gauntlets. Belts especially. Bracers give knockback, belt gives freeze, gauntlets give stun. So I'm looking for, say, bracers with 4%+ knockback (max 5%), 18% magic find, resist all, and just a decent amount of intelligence and vitality. Nope, none to be had at any price!
Life is tough as a procdoc
And don't even get me started on helms. Mandatory 10 or 11 mana regen, socket, magic find. So you have three spare affix slots to cram your resist all, int, vit, life%, all that crap. Like forget about trying for extra damage through crit% or crit damage

Re: Witch Doctor Thread: The Theon Greyjoy of DIII
More stuff I am discovering for tank/proc builds!
Best CCs
1. Freeze. This is #1 super important always magical. Appears on Belt slot, max is I think 4.5%. Paralyzes the opponent. Slightly better than Stun, because it procs on shielded monsters (and maybe on invul minions? I forgot to check)
2. Stun. Almost as good as Freeze but shielded minions are immune to it. Appears on gloves.
3. Knockback. I dunno if I even want this now, hmm. It interrupts, but for only a very short time. And it can push monsters out of range. Appears on Bracers. Any thoughts?
4. Chill. On shoulders. Pretty useful but not mandatory to have.
5. Slow. Who cares lol
6. Fear. I avoid this CC because I don't want guys running away from me.
Question: should I upgrade my bracers by omitting knockback? I could definitely find better ones if I left that out.
