Re: Diablo 3
80% of the necro's skills were useless tho... sure he was cuter but w/e.
i think the witch doctor's gameplay will be more interestin as he has a bit of everything

Re: Diablo 3
I played DH @ Blizzcon this weekend. DH plays a lot more like a combination of Assassin and Amazon. She's a lot more mobile and stealthy feeling than amazon.
My friend played wizard. As with all Diablo games, casters seem way strong untwinked and anything physical sorta sucks without gear. Hydra is OP and spammable.
The dungeons/mobs/gameplay feel is great, just like Diablo 2.
As far as other tidbits (dunno if they were mentioned), there is a dedicated charm bag (Talisman). There are separate allocations for passive talents and active abilities. The main NPCs are Blacksmith, Jeweler, and something else that I forgot which sound like they follow you around and "level up" with you (their caravans get more pimped out etc).
I'm sure I'm missing a lot of details, but if you have questions about gameplay or what to expect, I went to most of the D3 panels so I can do my best to answer =) (though the demo was only 10 minutes).

I agree that the gameplay will most likely be more interesting, but you could have a giant robotic teddy bear with sweet moves and the overall flavor is going to be lame.
I wasn't suggesting a 1-1 mapping of Necro skills from 2 to 3, but just that you could build off the concept and have a much cooler character.

I guess that is all personal preference then, I just thought the necro in d2 was about the worst class possible. Summoning was boring, curses were a whole tree full of nothing, bone was kind of cool though.
I think it is cool that they are creating new stuff, I don't really want a direct port else I would just play d2.
I do hope that the story will be more lengthy and I am secretly hoping for some way to keep leveling interesting after the first couple of characters. Although if they give you more inventory space and respecs you could only need to level 1 of each class which would be nice.

Re: Diablo 3
at this point nothing would be better than owning somebody as a WD and then saying "lol @ u, owned by a WD."
given that there's obv going to be expansions, first new character will def be a shapeshifter of some sort. i miss the druid already
also, slow time will be epic. even at this point with just 5 characters pvp will be awesome imo.

true of course, and I wasn't super clear on my main point of character concept (as opposed to gameplay) especially with the talk of porting. I just think WDs are horrible fantasy characters.
I wish they had a few more 'traditional' fantasy archetypes. Wizard is of course as standard as it gets, but that is the only class that appeals to me. Obviously I would like at least one other char option in order to get the game. The DH isn't awful, but the dual (magically reloading or whatever) crossbows are kind of lame imo. At least with an Amazon, Ranger, Archer, whatever I can imagine a magical endless quiver + imbued missiles vs what might as well be pistols. This may seem like insane nittery, but whatever. Yes, I know they have Barbs and that certainly fits the bill, just not a fan of that character, sadly.

I agree, that's what puts me off about the DH
aside from druid, the only character that doesn't really seem to have much of a port is the paladin, granted the monk is kind of close, there's just definitely a lack of knight-in-armor lore so far
expansions ftw tho

wtf, I think it looks quite good tbh. considering it's only 2s and they're not playing with a full compliment of skills.

Re: Diablo 3
I liked the environment a lot. I didn't like that everything looked kind of hazy/foggy and it didn't look like that was a matter of screen resolution. And the moves seemed repetitive to me.
I don't know from full or unfull complement of skills. Just what I saw looked like God mode with only a couple or few moves.

Re: Diablo 3
well that's what I meant, I'm guessing skill trees aren't quite fully developed so they're probably not playing with a full range of skills that one would normally have, hence the repetitiveness. but just based off that current product, it looks pretty good to me, better than it did on previous footage.
though as long as the stash size is big enough, you'll be happy, amirite?

Re: Diablo 3
not sure if this has been mentioned yet, although it's probably too early to tell
but is blizzard keeping diablo 3 free for battle.net play?
