of course there will be 1v1 too. I dont know what you mean by "random"... there will be both matchmaking arena matches and customs.
There will surely be custom tournaments attached to them and will bring the PvP d2 scene to a whole new level.
It will be 100x better than the old d2 pvp... lets be honest. D2 was awesome, the pvp wasnt well built. It was terrible, and thats coming from someone who only played for MF/pvp.
i watched the presentation on blizzcon live and it blew my mind.
The skill runes are unbelievable too. the demonhunter is awesome, u can call some skills ported however u want but the class is pretty amazing in every way. The only skill I saw that was ported was multishot btw...
I mean come on, grenades that you can realistically bounce off walls? I wantz. Barb that throws spear and drags the monster towards him? yes please. A giant toad with the right skillrune that swallows mobs? yesssssssssssss
will be the best game of all time once it comes out and it wont be close =o

Hi noobs. I just played Diablo 3 for about a half hour in the press room. This is the 3rd time I have played the game. Click the spoiler for my detailed review.
Kirby I only have to go off what I read in the article I linked, so that was what I was able to interpret. It said that you would be matched up against equal skill which to me means random assignment.
Also, I played D1/2 for over 10 years, I grew up on that game. I have nothing but high hopes for this and I want it to do well.
To be honest, I mostly just killed unsuspecting people because it was fun. I didn't really ever duel fair(in hardcore). But I never used any hacks(I did use permanent light radius increase, but that's it) and I'm unaware of any glitches. Like I never used occy rings/iths or anything. I don't know what they have now a days.
Toward the end of my playing I just kept making new lld charge paladins and changing my name over and over. I stopped enjoying high level play. I would much rather find perfect str/max dmg charms than high level runes.
It was fun to try ridiculous builds. I once made a grizzly druid mld with a full inventory of summon charms at 42 and just cast from town for hilarity.
so basically you dont like arenas because you wont be able to pimp low level characters and have fun waiting for people to go outside and kill em and collect a lvl 21 ear
You must not have lld or mld. The fun is taking out a 40 with your 19 with one hit. I had a paladin at 19 that was easily hitting almost 4k max dmg iirc. (EDIT: With this build slightly modified with Nokozan/Hotspurs I took out many chanters)
Or watching someone lose a 90 to a 50. That's priceless.
People get overconfident. I did duel a few times in higher levels, it's just not fun. No one trusts anyone. I bet 90% of the high level pvp deaths in hc are from tppk or something.
I killed a few higher levels but it was mostly people attacking me and just having to defend myself. I never really sought that out.
When I played sc I would duel straight up. The dynamic of hardcore makes certain matchups much more compelling to me.
And, just adding, finding a 4 socket heraldic shield with a high +%ed is just so much more satisfying than finding an ohm rune.
