puppeteer - carries a lamp to project shadow puppets on walls and the floor that attack or heal party members

chef - concocts vicious pastries to make enemies sick to their stomachs

xylophonist - plays soothing melodies to lull enemies into a false sense of security

Re: Diablo 3

Final Fantasy Tactics had some interesting classes.

Physically-Oriented Jobs

Squire
Knight
Archer
Monk
Thief
Geomancer
Lancer (Dragoon)
Samurai
Ninja
Dancer

Magically-Oriented Jobs

Chemist
Priest (White Mage)
Wizard (Black Mage)
Oracle (Mystic)
Time Mage
Mediator (Orator)
Summoner
Bard
Calculator (Arithmetician)
Mime

However some of them might not work for a lot of games because in FF Tactics you are controlling a party therefore you can have purely support oreinted characters. In games like WoW or D3 your class needs to be able to solo most everything.

That's one way of looking at it. However, Final Fantasy XI had a ton of classes that couldn't solo much. If you want to solo stuff be a NIN or RDM. The multiple support and magic classes in the game brought a great deal of variety and forced a lot of coordination and teamwork, which a lot of us greatly enjoyed.

Jobs in FFXI:

Basic Jobs
Warrior - Monk - White Mage - Black Mage - Red Mage - Thief

Original Advanced Jobs
Paladin - Dark Knight - Beastmaster - Bard - Ranger - Summoner

Rise of the Zilart Jobs
Samurai - Ninja - Dragoon

Treasures of Aht Urhgan Jobs
Blue Mage - Corsair - Puppetmaster

Wings of the Goddess Jobs
Dancer - Scholar

Re: Diablo 3

the only one I could see being a bit viable and slightly original is the geomancer, since the wizard has no real "earth" skills

Should we be expecting as many upgrades and expansions as Wow?

Re: Diablo 3

nope; the WoW subscription model provides much more incentive to come out with quality expansions periodically

Re: Diablo 3

Blizzard has added expansion packs to every single game since WarCraft II, I'd say at least one xpac, if not multiple, is a safe bet.

Re: Diablo 3

gogogogogogogogo. can't wait, played 1 & 2, have only looked at one or two videos of beta play. edge. seat. on.

pretty pissed they didn't give me triple monitor support. understand the game play issues. could have let me use other monitors to keep inventory and skill trees open. bastards.

thinking about upgrading the living room and stealing the 51" to mount above my triple 24's just for this game.

hd6990 ftw

Barbarian is a lot of fun.

I'll probably try out Wizard next.

Was really enjoying the beta until my computer blue screened. Guess I'm done for the night.

Re: Diablo 3

Trying out the Demon Hunter again. I haven't tried it since they redid everything.

Demon Hunter is definitely #2 for me. My favorite thing to do is to vault forward and outrun everyone. Also, you get a skill that gives you +run speed after you vault so that helps you out even more. Makes everything go a lot faster.

Demon Hunter puts out alot of damage with rapid shot, so that's pretty cool.

One thing I've been doing with him is trying to stack +XP. It seems to slightly speed up my leveling, but I'm only at like +11 or +13 right now so I don't know how much of a difference it really makes.

I was talking to someone ingame the other day who said he was stacking those stats and then it finally made sense that there are different armor sets that you can stack +XP, +MF, etc. I knew people did MF before, but I didn't really know how it all worked together.

I was always focused on the DPS or Armor numbers and used the stats as secondary.

Anyways, while leveling, what do you stack? What is your priority? Or do you hold onto sets and switch out?

Re: Diablo 3

By stack I think he means - which stat should you focus on?

I'd say focus on +damage almost exclusively while leveling, taking survival stats as necessary.

+Damage > +Survival (only if needed) > +XP > others
