Re: Diablo 3

Inferno is Blizzard's new cow level probably. Also, I forgot...but what made someone able to create the TP to the cow level multiple times? Did they have to leave before the quest was finished or before the last cow was killed or something?

Ballista was probably a 2nd tier item. It was only worth 2-6 SOJ (6 being a near perfect ballista) when I played. Windforce on the other hand was something 40 SOJ or 35 SOJ + 40% ED jewel or whatever. This was before duping and all those rigged items that I've never heard of before. Ballista was a slow ass weapon as far as I remember though. Javazon was the way to go for cow tipping. Didn't require expensive gear to be insanely effective.

When you ID an item in D2, are the stats predetermined (ala PStars), or is it determined the moment you ID it (ala FTP).

Re: Diablo 3

quick d2 question: if I were to play now in single player, how long would it take me to roll a decent magic find character and then find some top tier stuff?

Re: Diablo 3

was def gonna roll wizard but i heard they nerfed teleport? isn't there a cooldown now? DH looks pretty badass and you really can't go wrong with barb as your first class.

Re: Diablo 3

I think I will roll a barb first, but I will have one of each class. The only class that I am not drawn to at all is the monk, anyone else feel like that? To me he just feels like a barb but not cool.

Re: Diablo 3

I was into the monk at first but now I'm thinking its basic archetype is "melee glass cannon" and I think that'd just get really annoying

I've seen the monk die in beta streaming more than any other class

Re: Diablo 3

As somebody that only played single player Diablo 1 and 2 (read: had no friends to play with and joined the bandwagon late), somebody explain the basics behind why multiplayer is infinately better and why I should (or not) be playing it in III. Not sure if I can justify paying full price for III if I only intend to play single player, but I also don't want to invest in a huge time sink.

Re: Diablo 3

Cadaz, it is similar with almost all games. The interaction with other people while playing multiplayer is better than any AI that you will ever come across in single-player mode. PvP is a whole realm of D3 that you are missing out by playing single player. This is probably a weak analogy, but compare playing poker with bots (with play money) vs playing against real people (with real money). There is a vast array of territory that play money cannot cover that real money does. Simply put, single-player does not give you the full experience of the game. When playing multiplayer of any game your ability to win or advance in the game is not based on some predetermined difficulty that you can decide, but instead it depends on how well your opponents play.

Harder - the more people join a game, the harder monsters become - more loot and xp.
Better - usually easier and more fun to play with others - ladders + PvP. The only reason I played D2 was for PvP.
Faster - complete the game way more quickly.
Stronger - ... have no idea, really wanted to make a Daft Punk reference.

I really want to roll a Witch Doctor, but I got the impression that he's not really strong in PvP, by his items he seems more PvE oriented.

So far, what do you guys think will be the strongest classes in PvP?

Imo from strongest to weakest:

Monk;
Barb;
Wizard; Demon Hunter
Witch Doctor
