Why are you an Artist? Why are you an Artist?

I grew up playing music. Started as a small child and never looked back.

To me, it was always like a game. How good could I become? How fast/slow/soft/loud ect... could I take that piece of music.

Some people get into music because they want attention. Some people thrive on playing in front of a crowd. Not me... I did it all for myself. I practiced because I wanted to be good.

Why did you become an Artist?

* this can obv include any type of art. Whatever you are into, it does not have to be music*

I do it because I love it. I get jaded at times, but than I think.... what else could I really do that I enjoy more? Clearly, the answer is nothing. Granted, I am fortunate to be able to make a living in my art, which in this case also happens to be music.

I've always loved music and started playing instruments around age 10. In school as I grew up, I was studying other things. I started studying mechanical engineering in high school and landed a summer job working in AutoCAD when I graduated. I then went to college for it but 2 years in, realized it wasn't for me. I didn't love it. I thought about what I wanted to do instead.

After a while, I considered music as a career since I had been involved in it for nearly 10 years at that point and decided to take a shot at it. Always being interested in technology, I figured that was the right spot for me. So I pursued recording technology. I had done some amateur recording before and figured it was the most versatile area to be in the music business. Another 10 years down the road, I'm still doing it.

would love to again be involved in music as my career. don't want to go back in to teaching, so not sure what i would do. i am jealous of those who can figure it out and go and do it though.

I did the whole band, choir, drama thing when I was in school. It was fun, but I always wanted to be in a rock and roll band. I'm not in a band but, I'm making rock and roll music. I guess I'm living out the dream of when I was a kid playing air guitar to my Kiss records. I doubt I'll ever go any further than bedroom recordings, but I'm having a blast.

^ Most of my best gigs are me playing to myself in my room.

No expectations and I can just enjoy the moment.

So keep rocking out in your bedroom imo!!

Artists create art because they have to.

Pretty sure that's a badly paraphrased version of a famous quote, but whatever.

But I'm not in it for the money, no
I don't need no reputation
And I'm not in it for the show"

So many reasons. I love the motor skills-neural pathways connection and that feeling of getting better and better and better at something. I love the feeling of simply hitting notes that are in time and key and listening to it literally vibrating against my fingertips.

Deep seated insecurity, a need to impress and amaze. The desire to be loved and the desire to be known. Wanting to make money off of something that is fulfilling for me personally. Wanting to add something to the world, to leave my mark, to have some kind of positive legacy. To tell my stories, and to make people think about things from different perspectives. To spark conversations about different subjects and ideas.

The desire to be great at something. The desire to get laid. The desire to simply play that stupid song that's stuck in my head.

Also just looking up chords and jamming along with any song you like on youtube is just an amazing way to pass the time.

I guess some of these are pretty pathetic, so don't be too harsh on me here. I'm just being honest.
