i would just plug a laptop into the sub and run a click track off whichever DAW / sequencer you have on there.

The sub out on my looper consists of a right and left 1/4" audio jack. The looper has a built in rhythm track which syncs up with the tracks I record. I can route this rhythm track to the sub output only.

I could replace the click if the looper communicated the tempo and start/stop to the laptop. maybe if i connect via usb?

There is also MIDI...is there a simple MIDI device that could receive tempo and start/stop and generate a click?
Edit: I have a Boss DB-90 metronome back at home in the states (im in korea ) which has MIDI in. I could probably hook this up via MIDI and it would solve my problem, right?

If the looper has midi out or a usb midi port you can make a DAW the slave and the looper will be the master. Turn on metronome. Profit??

Taylor 414ce

Yamaha acoustic I paid $20 for off Craigslist. It's one of those "box" guitars that comes with the starter kit at GC IMO.

If the computer had usb 3.0 ports I wouldn't worry though I don't think. I think usb or the new mac interface Thunderbolt? may be safer than Firewire. Others can chime in if they think otherwise.

Now, as far as soundcards, you can get something for just recording yourself or small live performances like dj'ing, all the way up to stuff with enough ins/outs to record a whole band. Something like this is cheap, low latency and gets good reviews: http://www.amazon.com/Focusrite-Saff.../dp/B002R9ILOY

I've been looking at a lot of usb interfaces since I'm looking to perform live and use a laptop so I'm not all that familiar with internal soundcards and stuff. Hopefully other people can help you if that's what you want.

Actually, here's something with a bit more ins/outs, better quality, and also usb. I'm prolly buyin this after i build a new desktop this spring.

Didn't get the babyface....Saffire 6 is on sale for $179.99 at Best Buy for another day at least. That's $20 less than Musicians Friend or other places have it whenever I check. I grabbed it today. I want to buy too much **** this spring lol. Cmon D5s....show up!!

EDIT: Click on that amazon link and it's $178 there now too lol wtf. oh well

Actually I don't believe USB 2.0 is fast enough to record full bands at the same time.

USB won't be fast enough for sure. specially if you're gonna record at least with 48Khz 24 bits

96khz * 24bit = 2.3Mbit per mono channel

100 channels (or 50 stereos) equals 230Mbit/s... thats less than the theoretical half of USB 2.0 (480Mbit/s).

The main issue is the drivers the manufacturer designs. RME makes awesome drivers for their devices.

Re: Post your Gear, Discuss Gear, etc..

You can absolutely record a whole band on a USB interface. If you get into the 96k range, sure, you could see some hiccups if you have a lot of inputs, but most USB interfaces aren't allowing for that many anyway.

I have a loop station and I'm trying to create a click track for me and a drummer. The signal is too quiet, and only plays in one ear. So i'm looking for a mixer which will raise the volume, split it into both ears, and send it to two headphones.

edit:
the sub output through which i'm routing the click actually has both a right and a left channel...but when I plug my headphones into either channel, it plays in the same ear! Is this odd?
Get a headphone amp. One ear is standard.

Finally shipped. Est. arrival - April 17th.

I'm going to be building bass traps and wall panels and stuff the next week hopefully if I don't get too busy. I'll try and post pics. I live in a place I rent so I can't do any massive modifications or anything so it won't be too drastic but should still sound great after I'm done. Any advice is appreciated. I'll be referencing a bunch of different materials through the process. I'll try and link those too.
