Hi hi hi there. Welly welly welly welly well. Oh my droogs, I wish to talk about the key instruments if you will.

I just got a good deal on a Roland XP-80.

I wanted to get a Roland XP-30 cause Asy from Chaos Chaos plays one, but I couldn't find one but found this XP-80 for a really good deal so I got it.

I'm gonna be able to get the La Pump and Massive Cure sound

What do you have? What do you wanna get? Post stuff with keys!

Man I love this synth sound imo.

It's like, almost kinda flangey, but not, and it's like a distorted attack, but it sustains a clean tone, it's awesome imo.

I own a tiny, 2 octave USB midi controller. I can play Mary Had a Little Lamb on it.

I think you missed the edit. I can barely manage Chopsticks.

I'd love a nice synth, but I have no idea how to play the piano. I just have a cheap $50 midi keyboard to make production easier.

My dream synth would be the Minimoog Voyager XL (around $4,000):

And my cream-my-pants synth would be any Buchla 200e series I could get my hands on. Can go upwards of $30,000. They have one for 50k. So sickkkkk

I'd be patching the rest of my life with those babies.

Got my synth in the mail today! I have named it Asy. A perfect name. I love it.

have been interested in synths for a while now. love to dick around on the piano and love cool sounds.

a cheapish, well reviewed one that i was eyeing was a korg r3. it is digital but cheap and supposed to be powerful.. thoughts?

these days the only thing that makes sense to buy unless you are buying serious (reasonably expensive) gear is something that controls midi+software as this configuration dominates the 'cheap' and even 'not cheap but fairly good' categories. It's only once it gets to 'expensive' that there is even any debate as to whether or not analog synth stuff sounds as good as digital stuff (as someone that owns both a stage 2 nord and a hammond a100 trust me when i say that really at that level there is no comparison except in trying to work live mix stuff out).

I bought a Casio CTK-720 5-octave keyboard last year from Wal-Mart for like $80. I'm not a musician and am not very good but I like to mess around on it. I love it for what I need out of it.

I only know a couple songs. I'm close to being able to play Van Halen's Jump in its entirety. Been working on it a few weeks.

I don't read music but I just watch a bunch of youtube tutorials and then try to memorize. I also play Kashmir by Led Zeppelin.

Recently got a Yamaha MM8 with my tax return money. It's basically the MOTIF's little brother (similar sound bank, less recording/sequencing capability, and about $1.5K less in price). Digging it so far. Some of the sounds leave a little to be desired, but the feel of it was what really sold me. It has the best weighted keybed of any synth I've ever played that was under $1K. You really feel like you're sitting at a piano when you play this thing.

Can be heard in post #10 ITT.
