Hey gambit would you ever employ someone if they had very little retail experience?

And if not, what would one have to do to change that?

I just saw your comment to ebluenicco in the tap it, whack it thread and wanted to throw this out there.

It's just a general fyi (or fmi).

I've applied for a couple of guitar/instrument sales jobs and only got one interview/ no job.

I interview well imo, but lack the heavy retail experience.

Absolutely serious.

This monster magnet **** is the kind of stuff I'd like to trip on some mushrooms and perform rituals to imo

What kind of stores are you applying to analogue? Mom and pop type locally owned, or big chains like guitar center? If the latter, they don't give a **** at all if you know anything about musical instruments. It's kinda like walmart where if you go to the plumbing section, the guy working there knows absolutely nothing about plumbing.

The guy who ran/managed rocking horse records - a relatively famous record store in Brisbane, Australia - was a massive monster magnet fan and everytime you went into the store (for about a year solid), monster magnet was on. Didn't they break up or something?

I shall do some research but obviously not!

Yes.. Absolutely

Obv, sales experience is a huge plus. But, being trustworthy, honest, and hard working are the key imo. We work with our employees on there sales abilities alot but if we cant trust someone, its game over.

Imo, when I am interviewing people, I look for who is full of **** and who is honest.

very few ma and pa stores exist here anymore

and update:

Thanks gambit. I appreciate it.

I am as honest as the day is long - so hopefully that helps me!

Heh. Glad you like. I to MM what you are to RP. I recommend their older stuff first though it all is good imo. Spine of God, SuperJudge and Dopes to Infinity are classics though.

what is the australian version of walmart?

like kmart (variety store) crossed with Bunnings (hardware)?

if so, I may have to kill myself

but it may be worth to gain some experience

I've done retail but it was 1000 years ago when cash money still existed, you remember those days?

LOL @ saying a guy who wasn't able to tune his guitar is a better musician/writer than a composer that wrote a 70-minute masterpiece while completely deaf. At that point, one must consider the source of such conclusions as being faulty and not either of the musicians in question.

i think he could tune his guitar, he just chose not to

it's an apples and oranges debate though

cobain was a way better vocalist than ludwig anyway - guaranteed!
