Just played our second gig tonight. Went really well ... except for when my whammy bar was breaking right when I was starting to get on the bitch. I ****ing go to bust out some dive bombs and wrangle that ****ing bar up and down and then schoomp, ****ing bar comes off in my hand.

I can't remember much other than that imo. It was a good jam and I think we tore it up here and there imo.

I recorded our gig with a little tascam DR-03, using it's stereo mics just miking the room from the mixing desk like 20 feet away, and someone recorded everything from the mixer to pro tools on their laptop

listening to the tascam aorn

We just found a fill in for the gig, he's not gonna be long term unfortunately.

I might upload it imo, idk. The quality of this recording I got is pretty bad, but I haven't heard the pro tools recording yet. We played well but were all over the place here and there. Imagine not practicing with a drummer and doing a gig and having lots of tempo changes in your songs. Yeah, it wasn't pretty at times. Was pretty great at times too though.

tell your temp-drummer he won't need those gloves if he learns to hold his sticks properly.

Had a gig at the hard rock cafe 2nd floor lounge @ yonge and dundas square in toronto. Here's a pic from the outside

Here's a recording of one of the songs. They had a pretty legit avid venue system there, nothing too crazy. I have all the stems but I need to actually mix them. My guys are all playing new material for the first time and improvising as they go, turned out ok for the most part though. All live instrumentation. Gonna tighten up the keys/bass for sure. My buddies voice starts to go at the end, it was a long set. Needed some more beer up there for him or something hhah

Do you have any Pro Tools sessions of your stuff that you'd be willing to let me play around with?

I'll upload a song or two imo.

I gotta figure out how to separate all the tracks though. I recorded the gig on a Tascam DR-03, room mic'd like 20 feet away. All I could do was hit record and set it down and go play, so the recording is just one long .wav file.

Anyone know how to go about splitting them up?

Do you use any audio software LirvA?

For example if you used Cubase you would just have to select the range for each track and cut and paste it to a new project or new track.

If not you should at least have a wave editor that can be used to cut the wave file up. Pretty sure there are a lot of freebies out there that could do that easily.

I've got Audacity and Reaper imo. Dunno how to do it with either though imo.

Could probably figure it out if it's not hard.

yeah it should be straight forward:

i found this on the audacity site about splitting mp3's - should be same process for wav files i think

http://audacity.****************/manu...mmon_ed_1.html

so you would just keep splitting out the first track, save it, then split out the first track of your balance file etc, and keep going till you had all your separate tracks as individual files.

Thanks man

I think people are starting to recognize it as legitimate for sure (if they didn't already). It's no LA/New York/London/Tokyo but what really is? Love my city though. It's an amazing place to live. Literally thousands of bars/clubs/concert venues to play of all sizes.

Justin Bieber/deadmau5 are from really close to toronto, Lights is getting pretty big, drake, one of the guys from Zeds Dead is a buddy of mine and they're doing great, the glowsticks **** there are tons of acts getting attention internationally I'd say, too many for me to name - Crystal Castles is another, so many.

Definitely not all for me but it makes people take a closer look at the area which is nice.

I need to be careful with my sessions as I have a LOT of stuff unreleased but I know how it is if you just want to play around and learn. Two things I'll mention is that either my sessions are very large or very small and I often print my effects and hardware so you may not learn as much from my serial effect chain as you think (though the busses and fx are still there in some cases). I dunno where you're at with learning and stuff but I'm always down to help out if I can.

I have zero space on dropbox atm, I may end up buying more. If you get at me and have space on dropbox I'll see what I can do. What kind of session were you looking for?

I'm actually an audio pro (post-production mixer), but I am trying to get better at mixing music.

I'm specifically looking for neo-soul/R&B (the live gig stuff was kind of close to that style in some ways) type stuff (my favorite kind of music) to play around with, since it tends to be "smoother" than a lot of the stuff I have been getting to work with the few times I get to work on music, these days (UK type indie rock). I'm basically doing a lot of experimentation, but want to have the ability to work on stuff that breathes.

If you print all your effects and stuff it's probably not too useful for me, as I'd be tied to a lot of what you did. It's cool if you don't have anything that would be helpful for me to play with, but I figured it was worth a shot, since I've been having a hard time trying to find someone who has some of that type of music recorded, and would be willing to part with a Pro Tools session. It could be something that's already out, as it's more about it being a song I like, and that I would be willing to listen to hundreds of times, more than anything else.

Man, I need to move to a good music city. I want to move to Denver, but thinking about Austin too.
