Hey guys, didn't have internet for like 6 months twice in the last 2 years, and spent about half of my free time on mixxx (mixxx.org). DLed Virtual DJ just recently and haven't had quite the same success with vdj (mostly cause i have no idea what i am doing w/ this program), but it def seems more robust in many ways.

Been trying to find a decent drum machine recently. Really like that you can match the bpm with hydrogen, but 32 beats per bar makes it next to useless for me unfort. Def looking for something free that works like an 808, but unfort only seem to be able to find drum packs. If someone knows any free drum machines that let you loop and key beats in real time I'd really appreciate it.

I'm like the least musical person on earth and tried a little to learn piano on shibo, but have mostly given up on that for the moment. I gotta lot of rhythm for a white guy, but being tonedef suxxxxx. I was never i chorus or the band. My brother still plays bass guitar, but I gave up on the 6 stringer after about an hour of failing when I was like 11 years old. For better or worse, anyone can dj imo.

I'm superpoor for the forseeable future, so ableton etc are out of the question for me. I can assure you that you can do some reasonable dj stuff for most genre's with just mixxx or the free version of virtual dj. If you cannot afford dj stuff and want to give this a try, you can def use the above and learn. My sound card is **** as well, and I can only 1 channel mixxx, but can still do a lot of cool stuff.

You can't for free get into the 'controlerism' stuff or do any scratching as far as I can tell, so there are def some limitations. When I first tried to dj ~15 years ago, I had a mixer/sampler combo that was so busted it would actually slow down the sample as I turned the volume of the (8 sec max) sample up (lol). I learned a lot then, and am still learning a lot now. I wouldn't expect to be the next Vekked without at least some investment (but mostly just investing a lot of time), but I also bet he started on ****ty gear too.

Anyone else into this stuff? Anyone can suggest some (hopefully $free.99) programs to me, free drum machine plx? Anyone need any help with mixxx, like how to match a beat? Man took me forever to figure it out but its so lolsimple once you read the instruction booklet.

Sorry I haven't upload any vids with this post to show where I'm at. I am feeling pretty close to that level, but so far I haven't quite made anything I'm proud enough of to show the whole world. Mbe soon.

But poker distracted me for a while. Getting back into it again lately.
