I was playing music with my friends earlier, and I had an idea. I'm going to try to make a film with them, just as something fun and creative to do.
I've never make a film before, and so I thought I should create a thread here on the subject of amateur film making. If we're going to have a thread on amateur film making, why not have an annual amateur film contest? It could be a yearly thing and anyone can enter a film, and then we can all vote on which films we liked the best. Then we'll have a separate thread for the films and voting.
What does everyone think? We could use this thread for all the technical type discussion, and it could be a great resource for people to learn from.
I think about the only rules that would be good to have would be to not talk about any of the content of our films at all, as far as plot, characters, music, etc., because people might run into conflicts where they have similar things in their films, people might accuse others of stealing their ideas, and also, if someone sees that someone is going to do a film on something and they had the idea to possibly do something similar, they might be reluctant and say forget it. Also, I think it should be a rule that it cannot be a professional production being done for a studio or some ****. Let the key word = amateur imo, but this shouldn't prevent people from getting together a budget and buying and using professional grade equipment.
As far as censorship, I'm completely against any and all censorship. NSFW films can be labeled as such so we can post links to them.
What does you guises think?
