I play guitar way less often than I used to, as work and general everyday life have got in the way from me realizing some goals. I played in a few covers bands several years ago, and after having a little resurgence and taking lessons in 2010-11, my instruments spent most of 2012 gaining dust.

2013 goals:
- Minimum 3 days of practice per week (1 hour minimum per session)
- Learn 2 songs per month: my plan is to get it "band-ready", where I would have the rhythm down completely, and possibly writing a short guitar solo.
- Get back into some basic recording
- Find a few different people to jam with on a semi-regular basis

Finish my bands EP

My goal for this year is to try and get my music out into the world beyond just forums and friends. If I could get a song in a low budget, indie film, or something like that, I would be tickled.

-Get my chops back. 1 hour a day/4 days a week pad work.
-play guitar 45 a day/ 4 days a week.
-work on theory twice a week.

- most importantly, enjoy playing again. Got burnt out a couple years ago and really would like to gain my passion back

I guess my musical goal is to improve mastering/mixing my songs and to experiment making different genres of music.

make an album and inject it into the world

Not musical exactly, but I'm going to do a fairly large project for my fiancée.

As a wedding present (we'll be wed in September), I'm going to record a book-on-tape mp3 for her. Double trouble: it's something we can play for our kids, when we have them.

So, I need to figure out how to get my mbox2 working, figure out the software (protools or reason), figure out a way to record while reading *and* monitoring levels, figure out a code for the book to know which voices to use with which characters, and then last but not least, record the ~14 hours of audio, approximately 3-5 minutes at a time before figuring out a way to combine all the separate tracks and then convert it to an mp3.

Just over 8 months left. :nervous:

I am failing miserably at all my goals.

yes, as am i, because apparently the power button on an mbox has the amazing ability to make it break

My goal: ROCK.

-Get decent results from my studio, including full mix down to Digital
-Gig at least a few times
-Go to NYC and hit a few open mics with my former playing partner
-Get same playing partner to come to Detroit and record our stuff
-Group together a drummer & bassist and perhaps 2nd guitarist and be the "leader" making decisions on set list and such stuff
-Start all of my goals with the Letter "G"... Dang it!

- Actually finish the 4/5 tracks nearly completed for a free EP
- Try and do something with the 100+ half finished songs
- Turn the 1000+ Ableton files I've made laying around my computer into a loop pack I can reuse
- Finish my damn Ableton Controller!!!!

It's like you're looking over my shoulder.

Completely finish 1 whole song instead of making 500 quarter songs.

For 2013? Start and complete full length with my new band.

For 2014? Play Austin Psych Fest or bust.

- Play 2 recitals and have them not suck
- Write a minimum of 3 marching percussion books this summer
- Finish 2 marching shows that I'm working on, make sure they're legal, and get them to a publisher
- Write 3+ stands tunes (one down!)
- Not get absolutely ass-reamed in my lessons every week.
- Set myself up to finally get to my student teaching in 2014.

Also, have three or four originals almost ready to record. Might get that done before year end.

I've recorded and mixed 5 songs this year and I'm hoping to get one more finished.. I did 6 in 2012, and I'd hate to be less productive this year!
