Trying to learn 2-7 SD

Unfortunately there is literally no where to play 2-7 SD against decent competition for US players. I picked up the game recently and i am just messing around playing Highest Cash and Highest SNG for play chips on stars and i feel like im learning, but want to play against other players who are actively trying to get better. If anyone wants to set up to play some games on the Home Game Section on stars let me know. I personally will be trying to play my A game the whole time and will obv be up for as much discussion as possible.

Again, this is for anyone who is also actively trying to learn the game and wants to crush real money games at some point (i personally would like to be as prepared as possible for when real money games come back)

Thanks and GL

Re: Trying to learn 2-7 SD

Bumping this.

Im sure there are other people out there who have as much interest in this game, yet feel the same frustration i do since there is no where to learn how to play well. Seriously, anyone remotely interested in getting good at this game, lets get something together.

Re: Trying to learn 2-7 SD

I've been playing a bit on stars with play money lately and am trying to improve on all my non-holdem games. I'd be interested in playing some triple draw and/or any other games people might be interested in. Also in the US so play money is the only option at this point.

Great!

My Skype is AlexDuque25.

Itd be really cool to get a group discussion going on skype.
I as well am trying to learn all the games, tho im focusing on each specific game for a decent amount of time before i start mixing in a new game.

Skype me and we can set up a pokerstars home game and play whenever its most convenient for everyone.

Re: Trying to learn 2-7 SD

There are some places in Vegas like Aria and Venetian that will spread KCL at lower limits (Venetian spread 2-7TDL at 4/8 in 2008 when it wasn't really online yet). If there's some interest maybe we can add that to the Home Game interest list?

I know Venetian spreads 1/2 NL TDL now which isn't really a game, as in learning, but is fun. And when I played it last year there were several "experts" who knew the game but obviously hadn't played it no limit. Again, as learning goes only bad habits but was juicy.

Try Merge. I know there is a chance you'll lose the money someday but it's a better education than play money. Depo $50 so it's not a big deal when the DoJ shuts em down.

Speaking of Merge, I'm trying to convert some 2-7 TD hands. I copy the text from the merge hand history xml file, but it doesn't convert correctly. Anybody have any tips?

Re: Trying to learn 2-7 SD

I'm quite interested, too. Would be nice to learn the game with serious players without destroying the bankroll.
I would definitely like to join a stars homegame and it seems as if we could get enough players for it.

Re: Trying to learn 2-7 SD

a good tip would be to go through all the old 2p2 threads about nlsd, particularly iron81 and sheebz's posts. they were 2 of the best regs around and posted a fair amount of strat.

Re: Trying to learn 2-7 SD

To beat the lowest stakes games just be aggressive in position, the 0.25/0.50 game is ridiculously nitty and the vast majority of players are easily exploitable if you put them under pressure. I wouldnt value all that wide as against these nits betting hands like J5xxx post draw is turning your hand into a bluff where at higher stakes its a standard bet.
