Simple badacey q. pt 2

20/40 six handed Badacey in SoCAL

Hero opens A2567 and everyone calls.

Six players to the first draw. SB (someone who plays well and draws well) takes 2, BB (someone who likes to chase and draw) takes 3.

I anticipate a bunch of 2 and 3 card draws behind me, some good drawers and some rough drawers left to act.

A few options here as I see it

1) Pat
2) Keep the A25
3) Keep the A2

Please rank which you like from least to most!

I'm pretty sure I made the wrong decision

1 < 2 < 3 purely by mathematics.

You're never scooping if you pat, and your 765 isn't great for half 6-ways. With 2) you need too much of a miracle for the badugi side. Then again, drawing 3 you sort of need a miracle for A-5, but I don't think the A-5 handicap is as great as the badugi handicap.

Strange spot.

Was it common or unusual for this many players to get to the flop? (in a raised pot no less).

If uncommon (meaning villains draw relatively smooth), patting may not be terrible. Let's say 2 players behind draw 2 and last guy takes 3 and all players only keep A-6.

That means of the 24 total cards between a-6, there are 17 are held in players' hands. With 7 cards across 6 ranks, that means the 2 card draws need 2 of 6 outs to beat your 5 card hand (1 out for each rank missing a-6 and 3 7s) ... pretty tough. The advantage of patting is that hero can bet at least flop and turn pretty comfortably while villains are drawing thin.

If villains draw rough, I actually like keeping a27 and would bet a 7 dugi (and possibly an 8) or 3 card 5 or better.

Re: Simple badacey q. pt 2

Two were drawing real rough, three drawing smooth. That's what made it a little weird.

This was an impromptu mix because the big game PLO didn't start and they decided to play mix instead. so it was a fun game.

However there is a regular Sunday 20 mix at Palomar we are in the process of building. B2 ba 2-7td o8 stud8 badugi 20/40... 5/10 500 cap PLO, 2-7NLsingle. Hopefully big O sometime soon as well.

Wow, a 6-handed whole family pot... :-)

Even in my poor opinion standing pat doesn't seem so terrible.
Moreover you have 3 premium clubs in your hand making more difficult to your opponents to hit a very good badugi.

Re: Simple badacey q. pt 2

interesting, hadnt considered holding onto 3 or 4 cards with the 7 as i thought it would be a kinda trashy badugi given 6way action.
