For those of you that multi table stud or stud 8, do u actually memorize cards gone from the deck? I mean you don't necessarily hav to be multi tabling stud only.

For example if ur playing 3 holdem and 1 stud8, do u actually memorize the cards that are dead? is that what stud players do, at least the good ones?

Yes. When I play stud8, I know the cards that are dead.

It's more simply remembering than memorizing. It has to do with short term memory... I parked my car four different places away from home today, and I know exactly where I parked at each of the four different places. But I don't remember where I parked a month ago.

I didn't memorize anything. I just remember where my car was parked.

And that's how it is playing stud games. Good players simply remember what cards have been shown and folded.

Can anyone multi-table and remember the cards from each individual game? I don't know. I can't. One table at a time is all I can handle. But I wouldn't be surprised if some players were able to play several tables at once and remember the discards from each table.

Some people have better short term memories than others.

Yes. If just one Stud table (any of the 3 stud games), and others simultaneously, then I can remember. But if more than one Stud table at a time, then it gets difficult.
One tip that some players do is just quickly write/type the dead cards. Like just in the chatbox line (without sending obviously), in player's notes, a blank notepad doc, or in some other blank space.
E.g. just quickly type "K23679AJ" just before it's your go on 3rd. It takes a bit of practice for speed.

I was going to comment that this is what Jason Somerville does when playing stud games. Although he doesn't usually multitable stud games or even stud with other games if avoidable, for this very reason.

Seems like if you're multitabling, you could take a quick glance as soon as a hand is dealt to decide if there's any chance you're actually going to be playing the hand. If there is, then you write down the dead cards (eg. if you have (9T)Q in razz, does it really matter what the dead cards are? You're just instamucking in most scenarios.). In stud hi, you'd probably do alright if you only see if any of your cards or straight/flush outs are dead, without recording every single dead card, although knowing all the dead cards will always be preferred.

like all multi-tabling scenarios, its just a matter of trading edge at an individual table for overall hourly

some do it better than others
