PL triple draw w cap general strategy

PL td games (typically w 50-100BB cap) are finding their way into Vegas mix games. Thoughts on general strategy?

A few thoughts that stand out from my brief experience in the games:

- position seems even more powerful than limit TD.
- more bluffing/snowing (unless villain is a station obv)
- correct to draw/pat rougher?

Re: PL triple draw w cap general strategy

Yeah, I saw you asking about info over these games in an earlier thread with no response because unfortunately, there really isn't much info on these games written in the forum or elsewhere.

I would agree with your points generally in a shallower game but I would bluff/snow less if you are very close to the cap since your fold equity becomes less effective. Patting rougher in position is good if you can get betting near the cap before any river action, otherwise it can lead to some tough river spots. Unfortunately my largest knowledge of this version game is play money TD on Stars. In that game, when I had a stack less than < 100bb, I tried to get nearly all-in on the turn with a good 9 or better and let the fish draw at me.

Similar Ideas I gave a few months ago:

Probably the best tidbits about the game in action can be found from general discussion when nosebleed NL TD was being played at Full Tilt.

Random thread in NVG asking for PL/NL TD in WSOP and analysis by Stryd0r why the game really hasn't been spread yet:

More random discussion.

Re: PL triple draw w cap general strategy

I'm actually surprised this is making a comeback.

About 5 years ago we experimented with PL mixes instead of our normal limit. I think we played 1/3 blinds at Red Rock and Wynn. It was great fun, and there was tons of action for a few months, but many weaker players got crushed so we went back to playing 4/8-15/30 FL.

We didn't play with a cap, so whatever strategy I learned will probably be useless. However, it seems like what you outlined will work, depending on how big the cap is and how rough the players are patting.
