I remember the first question I ever asked when I first discovered pineapple:

Is it better to go for the pineapple everytime or play it safe and go for the occasional pineapple?

I looked it up a bit, played some, came to the conclusion that option 2 is better

Is there a clear cut answer? Am I dead wrong here?


Also, maybe this game deserves a thread of its own, kind of tired of filtering the pineapple from the other ofc in the main thread...

I really don't think there's a clear cut answer.

It really depends on the style your opponents play, how many clean outs you have, and your current value for the hand that you've already constructed.

The added beauty about pineapple is you can hide your cards so you don't have to look like you're nitting it up when you choose the safe route as well.

When I first saw this thread I thought it was about Pineapple Hold 'em, which is older than Pineapple OFC. In the hold'em variation you start with 3 cards, there is a round of betting, you discard a card and the flop comes out.

There's also crazy pineapple where you discard after the flop comes out.

For pineapple OFC a couple of good resources are openfacesolutions.com and openfaceodds.com. I run an OFC league and my website is openfacelive.com

There is also omaha pineapple where u dont discard, being a hybrid of holdem and omaha and replaces nlh, omaha8 limit and all studs as the better form.
