Not only am I the hugest tilter in SNG's, especially HU, I have played a few of these against players who were winners(including the guy who is probably the biggest winner in these, huge douche btw) and I just don't get it. I have played micro HU a bunch and I beat my limits, but I just can't figure the HU SNGs out.

There are some very irrational players that play these, sometimes they get gifts from god and sometimes they get gifts from many gods!!

For the most part there are few players who are very good in these games but due to the short time it takes to go from 20-40 to 150-300 it can make for some intersting variance.

Who do you feel is the best player in these?? I am sure I have played him at this point.

Re: Other Poker Regs/BBV thread

Hmm, well that sets a dangerous precedent...

Finally moved up from .10/.20 because I'd been losing and I figured the quickest way to get the money back was go higher... AND IT WORKED!

Caught a couple of nice fishies on my right and ran OK, undid almost 400 hands of crap play in a little over 100...

Obviously there are many many stories of people trying this and getting more stuck, but I'd like to hear some stories of others who have successfully moved up when losing and recovered losses way faster than they ever could have... ie Done the dumb thing and come out the better for it!

(I think it helped that I was having trouble giving a **** lately and the bump up in stakes made me buckle down and concentrate)

Yeah, the quick jump up in stakes is hard for me to deal with, especially in situations where I am back to a starting stack, or just above a starting stack and it essentially boils down to 2 or 3 flips. The only person I have played that is a real winner in these is Baseball_Ink, who was a ginormous douchebag. Hes up there on the draw leader board on SS for $5-15 I think.

I have jumped up in stakes a few times to recover losses, but it was mostly in hopes of regaining chunks of my roll or committing BR suicide. Honestly you should be playing .25/.50 at the very least, I have built up several short rolls playing that level.

TY for the kind words, I guess I am a nit when it comes to moving up, but a couple of other things too.

I am beating .10/.20 for over 10BB/100 for quite a while now (in my terms, although I realise 6.3k hands is a small sample IRL), in fact was recently up as high as 14BB/100 before I had a few bad sessions in a row and got frustrated. So my thought WAS I have to beat .25/.50 at 4BB/100 to match that, and I figured the player pool would be much better when I'm finally above the lowest end of the 2-7TD spectrum, and that wouldn't be possible. After actually playing it, and seeing more than a few of the average/bad players I have played in .10/.20, I'm not so sure this is a valid concern.

Also, the .10/.20 games are always running, while .25/.50-.5/1 is rarely going, and I am not confident enough in my HU game to start games. I think from now on I will be looking for running games and at least checking them out to see how fishy they are.

Finally, psychologically, I have never moved up in poker before! I was a pretty average NLHE cash player, a terrible LHE player, and apart from in $3.30SnGs on Bodog, I've never been far enough above break-even that I've thought moving up was a good idea. But I guess I'll have to get used to the idea

Thanks again for the encouragement.

Re: Other Poker Regs/BBV thread

For some reason, Sheebz was slumming in a $6.50 turbo NL 2-7 SNG last night. A bunch of randoms were playing really bizarrely bad and SUPER SLOW and tilted him. I ended up 2nd, as the guy that luckboxed out on Sheebz bubbled.

I also got 2nd in the $16.50 NL 2-7 MTT (we had 8 players, so it was truly a MULTItable tournament!) and I have a terrible record in an admittedly small sample of HUSNGs in the game. So it appears I suck at HU lowbah, or maybe I should just move up in stakes to where iron81 will respect my raises

Bad idea. People respect raises a lot less at higher stakes.

Re: Other Poker Regs/BBV thread

My head has officially asploded... I swear i think i know how to play TD and then it proceeds to crap on me. i have no idea what is going on. yesterday i played crappy but then came back played well got back most of my losses then today i feel like i played well but still got destroyed..... need to take a break let the cycle continue damn it. as soon as i start seeing myself becoming a reg at a decent stake the wheels always seem to come off and this is the summary of my poker career. I need to make a break through or give up
