Re: Other Poker Regs/BBV thread

Started a HU mix game, and got a lecture from the other guy about how as a good player I shouldn't want badugi in the mix because it's all luck and just gives the bad players a chance to win. Wasn't sure what to say to convince him otherwise without totally giving away the game.

If that was his argument, I'd say if the bad players NEVER win, they won't want to play. Badugi will only make up x% of the total games (I'd presume that figure would be less than 33%, and probably more like <20%), and you can crush them in the other games, while the Badugi keeps them interested.

I'm not sure I'd be able to supress the laughter for long enough though, and the double-fist-pump that this is the guy I'm playing HU with until the 'fish' get there...

That said, I don't like Badugi either

It is indeed, although there's not much in the way of general chat...

If you play on Stars, try the small buy-in 2-7 MTTs (assuming you meant 2-7 when you said "the game"), they are very soft.

Best way to learn is to use a HH converter and post up here.

Soepgroente in the cash in the 10-game (19 left), looks to be pretty much bang on average in chips going into the final day. Fingers crossed for a strong finish!

Thanks ha, yeah i meant 2-7, but actually planning on playing some triple draw, single draw and badugi. Starting with 2-7 triple first though...

Also prob gonna play cash as nhle mtt are my main game although will prob play mtts of DOP in wcoop.

Are there any adjustments u make in playing these games as mtts as opposed to cash?

One other q (sorry if not right place) what adjustment would you make playing these games as nl as opposed to limit?

2-7 MTTs, I get ready to play with a whole bunch of people who have absolutely no idea what they're doing. About 5x worse than those playing even .10/.20 cash...

But as far as adjustments to your game when playing MTTs, I don't think there should be many to make as a default.

Just make sure you observe the game because most players will give off huge tells about their hand strength through betting and drawing decisions. And they usually play tighter than you should, so be careful about value-towning yourself with marginal holdings into nits who think #4 should be flatted to a raise OTF.

Re: Other Poker Regs/BBV thread

i disagree with this, u need to pat a 9 utg if u have 2BB and the blind will hit u or u may never get that chance again, its the usual stuff with all tourneys.
you need to make decisions based on your stack size and time to elimination
also u need to pay attention to other stack sizes on the bubble due to ICM and all this boring tourney stuff which can be applied to limit tourneys also.

not sure obv :P

Well, the 9 thing is going to be true in a cash game too if you're going to be all-in before the flop, that's more of a short-stacking consideration than a tourney one. And you'd be crazy to pat a 9 with a good draw under it, unless you know the other players will draw to worse (or maybe if you're HU)... Had a guy who thought a 987 was the nuts the other day, raising river with it and getting beat every time; must read something on 2-7NLSD before playing

Anyway, strategy discussion in the BBV thread alert!

Congrats to Vanessa Selbst winning the 10-game mix bracelet! Becoming the first female since Vanessa Selbst in 2008 to win a bracelet in an open event.
