Thin value? Renayr may fold a worse hand? Personally I think this is a bad hand to do either of these things with though. But don't think cal has much of a checking range from what I have seen.

That looks very solvable with game theory, I suggest you post the hand in that forum.

my guess is that this looks like a holdem hand, turning it to a bluff but idk if this is done in nlsd

Why would he want Renayr to fold a worse hand? Call pre seems pretty loose, the only hand he beats that will call his post draw shove are maybe a Q or K. He will fold all pairs and probably A and K Lows that might shove as a bluff if he checks.
This just doesn't seem profitable to me.

Re: Other Poker Regs/BBV thread
its just thin value/range merging. it may be too thin, but maybe he didnt think renayr would bluff, but would expect him to bluff.

Its something towards those lines and cal is usually too loose so could actually get called by worse(hardly ever but leveling is tough with cal, thats why I love him).
Enough strat in bbv.

I wouldn't, most people in game theory will just go: "LOL, What is this game where we get 5 cards at once?"
I'm pretty sure none of them would put them on an accurate enough range to give a meaningful answer. I probably couldn't either, I'm just assuming cal is betting all J's or better here on the river, which should be slightly -EV if ranayr called perfectly, so I'm guessing cal hopes that ranayr calls as wide as ducks/or ace high I'm guessing. Does cal bluff high pair on top of this too? Sadly I really dunno since I never watch/play the game. The simple answers are what Journeyman and Bjornar said. Maybe Luke could start a new thread about it, if we really want mathy details. I gotta work on the TD problem first though.

You know I like fullring better
And there are easier games than you luke
And I didnt really run my mouth? All I said was that I was going to be away for some hours but would be back later that day And, you know, NLSD isnt my only game, it is not even my favourite, so whenever there is a good stud8 table going, I'm prioritizing those!
Rambling done, I would love to play you lower stakes than 2/4. I'm a bankroll nit, and 2/4+ games with high variance isnt really my taste

Was more referring to the 'oh I thought this was 5 card draw' and 'So pairs aren't good?'.

Re: Other Poker Regs/BBV thread
Lots of BBV for me last night:
Brag: A 10/20 mixed game (HORE+TD) got up at a casino which never normally runs one.
Brag: Rake was negotiated from ~$35/h, to 5% with a $15 cap. Thank f'ing Christ because the Stud 8 round took 45 mins to play 8 hands...
Brag: Was a fantastic table, very friendly people having a relaxed, good time, no experts at any game as far as I could tell.
Specific hand brag: Had a guy raise me with off-suit KT showing in S8 when I was showing A7 suited - I had the low draw, 3 flush and 3 to a wheel, got 3 bets in on 4th.
Beat: Checked 5th when I made my low knowing he'd bet his high, he did, and I chickened out on the x/r. I have no idea why, might have something to do with playing 10x the stakes I normally do online. Anyway, terrible, as I was free-rolling.
Brag/beat: Caught runner-runner Aces up, scooped the whole thing from 2p Kings up.
Brag: Cashed out a bit later $183 up.
Super-duper brag: Cage made a mistake and cashed me out an extra $400 on top of that $183!
Anyone else got BBV cage stories?

Re: Other Poker Regs/BBV thread
Congrats I guess but if you are really excited to win 9 big bets you are playing way too big for yourself. It's only gonna cause you headaches.

I wasn't actually that excited about the $183, but I'm a casual player, so walking out BE would be classified as a win by me. Had a fun night and built my roll so I can have more fun nights.
And yes, I am playing too high for myself, but it's the only game that runs, and I don't mind if I lose my BR.
Come to think of it, the biggest beat was that I had to leave while the game was still kicking because I was checking out some houses to rent the next day. Who knows if it'll ever get up again...
You play a fair bit live DD; 100% accuracy from the cage?
