The 4/8 was extra good yesterday

Ok. I am good at enjoy: NLHE, LHE, Razz, and 2-7 TD
I am good at but don't enjoy: Stud, Stud 8
I'm good enough to beat (at my stakes) and enjoy PLO
I suck at and hate O8

My question is, after a four hour session, is there anything wrong with, once I decide to quit, playing through my free hands in LHE, and leaving? I don't think so, but I figured it would be a good thing to see what others think. When I start playing, I jump into whatever game is going at the time.

Leave when you want, but don't sit out certain games. I almost always leave UTG in one of the blind games.

Omg, never.

Lol did get accused of it once when I sat out to take a crap though :-p

Failing that, ask them for the HH for all your 8game play and write a script to scrape the game-type and win/loss of every hand (shouldn't be too hard to do this).

I'm also fairly sure that very very few people play enough 8game to get statistically significant numbers for any one game.
If anyone ever writes something like this, I'd be willing to pay for it. It would be very helpful for me to know which games to work on the most.

Started playing the 8-game micros and have had a blast. Definitely a breath of fresh air.

Plus, I think the 8-game is probably a great way to improve your poker playing all around.

man, they really need fast tables for the 8 game...

Gordo - what DD said is standard, you are always calling smooth 2 card draws here in the sb and should be betting out when the draw is even and you improve

I've been playing the micros some and I think the most I've tables I've had going is 3. I could probably do more, but have never seen more than 4 tables running at .20/.40. Above that, it's generally just 1 or 2 going per level. Edit to add: At least when I've checked, which has admittedly been at random non high-volume times (like now for instance).

I like it though. Tourneys have been driving me nuts lately, so I think I'm going to put in a long session on as many tables as I can get on tonight.

Etiquette/Rules Question: I'm sitting at an empty 8-game table to start a new game. Someone sits down and we play some hands. After 10 or 20 or 60 hands I decide that my opponent is either very good, or at least good enough that I can't beat the rake. Whether I'm up or down is irrelevant. Do I have to play exactly 48 or 96 hands before quitting?
**Official 8 game Poker Stars Thread** Quote

Definitely no, but I would tell him in chat you are quitting him and if you plan to leave after a certain game, tell him which game. That will allow him to quit sooner than that if he prefers not to play one of those last couple games, etc.

I was invited to a private 8 game tourney. It was the first time I had played 2-7, although I have played badugi. I really enjoyed the game.

I too must admit I have found a new love. Really enjoy immensely the 8 game format. I also am really enjoying HORSE. I am at the point where NL is really irritating to me. The mixed game format is invigorating.
However today I had the session from hell in (solo) 2-7 TD. Two f&*^king solid hours of pairing EVERY f**&&king hand.

This thread makes me happy. It was always a pet peeve of mine that so many people had no interest in other poker games.

Play in a smaller game then. Given that the blinds in NLHE and PLO are 1/4 the blinds in the limit games, the BR requirements aren't that different. Also, if NLHE and PLO got removed from the mix, I think you'd see a severe drop in popularity in the games. The inclusion of those two games makes 8-game about 10x more interesting to me than something like HORSE, and I'm quite certain I'm not alone in having that opinion. One thing I think Stars should do to mitigate the BR factor is put a cap on the betting in the NL and PL sections, maybe 50BB or 100BB. A 50BB cap would be kind of novel, actually, and would make the NLHE and PLO games significantly different than their standard counterparts.

Of course, an 8-game mix where all the games were PL would be even cooler.

I agree, without PLO and NL it makes it much less interesting and wouldn't have the appeal it does.

A 100bb cap on the bigbet games would be fairly reasonable imo, but I think a 50bb cap is too small and benefits the HORSE specialists too much (though I could see that actually backfiring if it led them to loosen up more with less fear of stacking!). I think NLHE already plays smaller than most of the limit games because you can just fold the entire round for less than a small bet, seems like many players just nit it up for that round.

As a bigbet specialist with TDL skills who probably sucks at most of the HORSE games, I've been happy to discover that PLO and TDL seem to play the biggest of all the games!

just stumbled on this thread, ive been playing a lot of mostly 4/8 with some 2/4 as well. pretty sure ive played with a bunch of you
these games are farrrrr more juicy than both nlhe and plo cash at comparable stakes, hope it stays that way.

i think a blinds+ante structure would reduce the nitting.. like ante = 1/4 of the bigblind or smth.

i'd like to see badugi onine but i disagree with your point. i've played plenty of NL and LHE and the rations are set up right, the NL doesn't play bigger. the only reason it might play bigger is cause a limit player thinks they need to play NL like limit and play everyhand for too much $$ (but this is a good thing)
